The corruption of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is not new news. Only the depth and the arrogance is. Clearly anyohe involved in Illinois politics -- and that includes the man who now holds the "office" of the "President-Elect" -- Barack Obama, had to have known about this man's crimes leading up to his efforts to sell Obama's seat to the highest bidder.
Like the character in Casablanaca who is shocked -- shocked -- to find gambling going on at the casino where he has been gambling since it first opened year earlier - Obama is once again "shocked" that those with whom he has done business for years is evil and corrupt.
Up until now Obama has gotten away with playing the American people with his Captain Renault act. He was SHOCKED to learn that his mentor, Jeremiah Wright spewed virulent hatred and SHOCKED yet again when he discovered that the English teacher down the road was really an arch terrorist and SHOCKED yet again to discover that the person who made posssible his owning a mansion was a mobster.
Illinois politics IS the politics Captain Renault. It's now the driving force in American politics.

Stop Bush's Giveaway of America's Redrock Wilderness
Tell the Bush Administration to cancel the December 19 auction of Utah's Redrock wilderness to oil and gas speculators. These natural treasures belong to the American people in perpetuity. They are not Bush and Cheney's to give away. Once the drilling begins, this majestic wilderness can never be restored. Please send your message opposing this disastrous plan.

Well, that was predictable, coming from you. As a matter of fact I'm surprised it took you so long.
Sure, Blagojevich is the worst of the worst, there's no denying that. I'm not in the least bit surprised at how you lunged at this opportunity to associate Barack Obama with Blagojevich ("They are politicians from the same state! Obama HAD to be associated with that scumbag!"). That "logic" would also apply to any other politician from Illinois -- Democrat or Republican -- but that's a whole other debate.
What sickens me about you (and others like you), is that if a Republican governor had done something like that (and there's no denying that many republicans have done similar or worse things), you'd be defending him right now -- just like I'm sure that you've defended Nixon many, many times. You'd be bitching and whining about the "leftist media" and how it demonizes anyone that "doesn't agree with them".
But of course, given your selective memory, we never expect objectivity and honesty here anyway. We come here for sheer entertainment purposes.
Your descent into madness is no longer amusing, it's just horrifying and sad at this point.
Checkdat...he be one sick motherfucker

Any pol from Ill. had to know...oh sure shit, Surelock...that means the entire GOP congressional groupmentation and everyone who ran against a higer level Dem and lost, including their Goober candidates etc...why'd they shut up so long? Wrong again, Anon! The Republicans have messed up beeg time. And, we Democrats are the clean-up crew, as usual.
The Democrats are there top clean-up all right, like jackals after a lion makes a kill.
Isn't it a curious that the same sophisticated New Yorker's who railed against Sarah Palin's qualifications are the self-same sycophants pushing for Carolyn Kennedy to replace Hillary in the Senate?
As if great leadership ever came from mere possession of a surname.
Plato, "Cratylus"
'I should be more readily persuaded, if you would show me this natural correctness of names.'
Indeed I cannot; but I see that you have advanced; for you now admit that there is a correctness of names, and that not every one can give a name. But what is the nature of this correctness or truth, you must learn from the Sophists, of whom your brother Callias has bought his reputation for wisdom rather dearly; and since they require to be paid, you, having no money, had better learn from him at second-hand. 'Well, but I have just given up Protagoras, and I should be inconsistent in going to learn of him.' Then if you reject him you may learn of the poets, and in particular of Homer, who distinguishes the names given by Gods and men to the same things, as in the verse about the river God who fought with Hephaestus, 'whom the Gods call Xanthus, and men call Scamander;' or in the lines in which he mentions the bird which the Gods call 'Chalcis,' and men 'Cymindis;' or the hill which men call 'Batieia,' and the Gods 'Myrinna's Tomb.' Here is an important lesson; for the Gods must of course be right in their use of names. And this is not the only truth about philology which may be learnt from Homer. Does he not say that Hector's son had two names—
'Hector called him Scamandrius, but the others Astyanax'?
Now, if the men called him Astyanax, is it not probable that the other name was conferred by the women? And which are more likely to be right—the wiser or the less wise, the men or the women? Homer evidently agreed with the men: and of the name given by them he offers an explanation;—the boy was called Astyanax ('king of the city'), because his father saved the city. The names Astyanax and Hector, moreover, are really the same,—the one means a king, and the other is 'a holder or possessor.' For as the lion's whelp may be called a lion, or the horse's foal a foal, so the son of a king may be called a king. But if the horse had produced a calf, then that would be called a calf. Whether the syllables of a name are the same or not makes no difference, provided the meaning is retained.
Nothing runs like a river... and nothing is less presidential than a modern day Kennedy.
Well, Caroline Kennedy at least has a law degree, which is important for being a legislator, but i don't think she's qualified.
I think she's much more qualified to be Senator that Sarah Palin was to be VP, thouhg.
In keeping with the scene from Casablanca to illustrate your point I think there is a scene in the movie Casino that draws even a better parallel. In the scene De Niro’s character discovers that the casino has been scammed by people rigging a handful of slot machines. He confronts the less than intelligent slot manager, who is some rube that was hired because of his connections to the political machine in Las Vegas. This isn’t the first time this idiot has made mistake, in fact throughout the course of the film we see De Niro having to castigate this dolt for his constant and costly errors in judgment. This final mistake is the costliest and De Niro has had enough, before he fires the guy he says “the fact that you didn’t realize that we were begin scammed tells me two things; either that you were in on it or too stupid to know that things like this happen. Either way you’re fired.” This is very akin to how must of us conservatives feel about Obama and what his administration will bring, in terms of his judgment about the people he has appointed to his cabinet and his naïve belief that meeting with the maladjusted leaders of rouge nations without preconditions. Either he is in on all the corruption that was a part of the Illinois political environment or he was just too stupid to know it was taking place. And either he is part of the efforts of the malevolent foreign powers that wish to destabilize the United State (or is sympathetic to their cause), like Iran and North Korea or he is too stupid and naïve to realize that these countries do pose a massive threat and don’t have our best interest or shared best interests in mind.
Duh, I too am worried about those "rouge" nations.
And I hardly think it requires a long winded, predictable screed like this to illustrate the hackneyed and idiotic cliche that he must have, uh, like, either been rill dumb or he was part of it.
Since we've seen half the GOPig party going to jail in recent years we could say the same much more credibly about the half of the party remaining at large.
In response to JD Quinn...And it's good to see that the man who was suppossed to bring us "change" is part of the same old corruption that I thought he and his ilk were going to "clean up". Wow, look at what we have to look forward to. And another thing; is that all you freakin' liberals have? The "yeah, but the Republicans are no better" crap? Is that all? I thought yours was the party of HOPE and CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE. YES WE CAN YES WE CAN YES WE CAN YES WE CAN. Sorry I thought you would like some more "comfort" words before you have to face the fact that you just voted in an inexperienced moron who now turns out to be part of the most corrupt political machine in this country. And if you were really "worried" about those "rouge" nations as you claim, then how could you vote in an idiot who would like to meet with them without any preconditions? Oh, by the way, since none of you easily led schmucks didn't listen simple easy to follow logic like "he doesn't have any experience - he sat in the church of a racist preacher for 20 years and didn't raise a single objection or even challenge the man about his beliefs - he is for income redistribution that is tantamount to socialism" I figured maybe just maybe if you took the time to READ something it might sink in for once. You bunch of easily led suckers. Enjoy your Kool-Aid.
I am enjoying my kool ade dinkus...O is looking fantastic at this point...great appointments...great plans...and nobody's buying your filth about O's involvement.
I didn't say the GOP is no better. I said the GOP is a thousand times worse. So who gives a fuck if the OCCASIONAL corrupt creep shows up. That's inevitable. Half your party is in prison and the rest are on the way or should be on the way. That's an entirely different situation -- and the last Governor of Illinois just went to prison...Ryan...he's a REPUBLICAN, moron...so tell me all about that corrupt, Illinois, Democrat machine.
Oh, and I absolutely favor him meeting with potential adversaries without preconditions, pinhead. We've heard many of even the top Republican statesmen say that is exactly what he should do.
Way to go, JD...and it's about time the income, which has been redistributed upward for the last thirty years, began to be redistributed back down to the people who actually do the work in this country.
Does this moron actually think we would vote for a warmongering, old flake like McCain who was going to give us more of the same policies that got us where we are now? I'll take the relative inexperience in a brilliant man who has the right political orientation and policy choices over that every time.
To hear about inexperience from a fool who voted for Palin is a joke.
Thug Party:
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A 32-year-old Shreveport man is now recovering at home after he was badly beaten at a west Shreveport gas station for wearing a Barack Obama t-shirt.
Kaylon Johnson has a broken nose and eye socket after the brutal attack that he says was racially motivated and brought on by the t-shirt. "They were screaming "f" Obama, f***. Obama something about a n**** president, basically you know I was hit."
Report: White vigilante groups blockaded small town in post-Katrina New Orleans and murdered blacks.
Mr. Evan Sayet,
Let me know if this reaches you. I observed an earlier speech you gave to the Heritage Foundation "How Modern Liberals Think."
In this messed up world everyone needs a hero. Someone that seemingly defines that next Superman.
My hero's; any veteran who served this nation (There are not enough of them around it seems). Any woman who has the spine to spank her kid openly in a Walmart store (My mother beat my ass with an orange Hot-Wheels track whenever she felt the urge... which was often), and newspaper boys who get your newspaper on the doorstep (They are rare too).
You are my hero!
I am a retired USAF Master Sgt who grew up in S. California... I want to do stand up comedy.
That is interesting to know about it.
