I write often about the wholesale selling out of journalistic standards at the elitist media outlets. Here's but one more example.
In journalism school "man bites dog" is taught to be one of the great news stories of all time. Similarly, when I asked my friend David Frum to explain the criterion he used to decide what pieces would make the op-ed page of the Wall Street Journal one of the answers he gave was a letter that started something like "I'm the president of the state NAACP and I'm against Affirmative Action because..."
So when, at a massive rally for Sarah Palin in, of all places, Southern California, (over twenty thousand in attendance), Shelley Mandel, the President of the National Organization for Women's largest chapter (Los Angeles), strode out on the stage to introduce and endorse Governor Palin, by every standard of journalism this should have been a huge story reported in every one of our media outlets.
Instead, I'm willing to bet that this is either the first time you've heard of it or, if you've heard of this important endorsement it was via another blog or from some Republican by word of mouth.
Just as leftist judges have become "activists" caring nothing about the law or constitution, so, too, the leftist media. They must be treated as the enemy of freedom and democracy that they've become.

Or, maybe, they just didn't want to LIE about the "endorsement" like this blogger does.
Mandell made it clear that she was speaking only as one individual and that her opinion was not an endorsement by her chapter.
This was followed by this and other statements making that very clear:

From voting rights to equal pay legislation to authoring and funding the Violence Against Women Act, it was clear to NOW PAC that the Obama/Biden ticket represents the best team for the kind of future we envision for women and girls.

The use of Shelly Mandell’s Los Angeles NOW title was apparently intended to mislead the public, and indeed has resulted in local television outlets and internet reports misstating that LA NOW has “endorsed” Sarah Palin or that she has a record of supporting women’s rights. This in fact is not the case.
"As President of California NOW and as a member and officer of Los Angeles NOW, I can assure you that there is no local or state affiliate of NOW, including LA NOW, which endorses or supports the McCain/Palin ticket. John McCain and Sarah Palin oppose many of the rights and freedoms we have fought for throughout NOW's 42 years, and we will not be pushed back to the days of back-alley abortions, forced pregnancies, and pay discrimination without remedy. Nor will we let the media distractions deter our members and activists from our organizing for freedom and equality for all women, putting our hopes and our dreams, our hard work and our hard-earned money, behind a proven team for women: the next President of the United States – Barack Obama – and his running mate, longtime friend and ally of women, Sen. Joe Biden With equal ferocity we will fight to protect young women by defeating Proposition 4 and to keep bigotry and discrimination out of our state constitution by defeating Proposition 8 here in California."
On the other hand, why aren't we hearing about this on this corrupt, reicho blog?:
Appearing on NBC's Meet the Press, conservative columnist Peggy Noonan said that the "populist" tactics being deployed by Sarah Palin was "not helpful to the country" and painted her candidacy as built on class warfare.
"She is a natural," said Noonan, "But I will tell you, I feel increased concern about... what she thinks of as populism, as her populist approach. There are two ways, you know, her stuff about, 'I'm main street, you are the elite, I'm Joe six-pack.' She actually says 'I'm the Joe six-pack candidate.' This has me thinking, gosh, would Lincoln say 'I represent the backwoods type?' Would FDR say, 'the New York aristocracy deserves another moment in the sun, vote for me?' There's something weird about it. But there is also something, for me, concerning. Populism as a tactic is justified often in politics. 'I need this program, the people want it.' Populism as a strategy, 'we're the good guys, you're the bad guys,' is not good. And if that's the road they are going, that's not a good road to be on. It is not helpful to the country."

Congress was front and center in the national news last week and the American people were far from impressed. If they could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, 59% of voters would like to throw them all out and start over again. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 17% would vote to keep the current legislators in office.
Today, just 23% have even a little confidence in the ability of Congress to deal with the nation’s economic problems and only 24% believe most Members of Congress understand legislation before they vote on it.
That's congress, peabrain...not Democrats...it's those 90+ filibusters the GOPigs used to stymy EVERYTHING they want to get rid of.

AP: Democrats Have A "Realistic Shot" At 60 In The Senate

While most senate and house projections at this point err on the side of caution, a new AP article signals what may be an emerging conventional wisdom: that getting to 60 is absolutely within reach.
With President Bush's ratings at rock-bottom, fewer Republicans signing up to vote, and voters nationally gravitating toward Democrats in public polls, the GOP is bracing for defeats in November that will expand Democrats' now razor-thin 51-49 majority in the Senate.
Democrats have solid chances of winning five seats, according to strategists in both parties and public polls, and realistic shots at picking off another three to five Republican senators.
Has a pick-up of 10 seats, and with it a true Lieberman-less 60 vote majority, ever been described as "realistic" before?
This new boldness, which I suspect we'll see replicated elsewhere as CW solidifies, is no doubt a function of the recent indictment of Ted Stevens, which instantaneously made Mark Begich the favorite for the seat and Democrats on track to win 5 virtually at the starting gate. Those "solid" 5 are:
Mark Warner in Virginia
Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire
Tom Udall in New Mexico
Mark Udall in Colorado
Road to 60 candidate Mark Begich in Alaska
The 3-5 "realistic shots" according to USA Today (and general CW):

Road to 60 candidate Ronnie Musgrove in Mississippi
Al Franken in Minnesota

So we have McCain today getting his crowd riled up asking who Barack Obama is and then apparently giving a wink and a nod when one member of the crowd screams out "terrorist."
And later we have Sarah Palin with the same mob racket, getting members of the crowd to yell out "kill him", though it's not clear whether the call for murder was for Bill Ayers or Barack Obama. It didn't seem to matter.
These are dangerous and sick people, McCain and Palin. Whatever it takes. Stop at nothing.

AK-Sen: Well, well, well...seems even Ted Stevens himself is acknowledging the fact that he might have to go to jail.
There's audio and everything. From a tapped conversation between Stevens and Veco CEO Bill Allen, the man who hooked Stevens up with all the sexy additions to his apartment that got him investigated by the Feds:
Stevens: "If there's a violation of the elections law then that's a corporate violation."
Allen: "Yeah."
Stevens: "This thing shouldn't get your bind, little buddy."
Allen: "Well it has man, all day."
Stevens: "Well, well you gotta just stand back and say, what's gonna happen when it's all over, you gotta get a mental attitude that these guys can't really hurt us, you know, they're not gonna shoot us, its not Iraq, so what the hell. Worse that's gonna happen to us is we round up a bunch of legal fees and might lose and might have to pay a fine, might have to serve a little time in jail."
Got that? "The feds can't really hurt us, they're not gonna shoot us...it's not like we're in Iraq, after all".
In other words, don't worry a bit about breaking federal laws. What are they gonna do, throw us in jail?
Well, Sen. Stevens, be careful what you wish for.
