Why The Rev. Threw Barry Under The Bus

In a world where genetics and not culture matter, Barack Obama was “half black.” In the real world, however, he is a white kid who called himself “Barry,” attended private school in the paradise of Hawaii, and went home each night to a mother and grandmother from the plains of Kansas. The influence of Barry’s black (African) father was negligible at best, providing him with little more than the name that the child quickly rejected in favor of the more Anglo moniker he used every day of his young life.

The Evil Christian Who Represents McCain:

You may have heard of Rev. John Hagee, the McCain supporter who said God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its homosexual "sins." Well now meet Rev. Rod Parsley, the televangelist megachurch pastor from Ohio who hates Islam. According to David Corn of Mother Jones, Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a "false religion." In the past, Parsley has also railed against the separation of church and state, homosexuals, and abortion rights, comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazis.

I think the good Rev. spoke out because Barry needed an excuse to "repudiate" him publically.

I'm sure they're still bosom buds.

One good thing has come out of this race. Now we ALL know who the party of racists and bogots is...

Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed Wednesday to continue her quest for the Democratic nomination, arguing she would be the stronger nominee because she appeals to a wider coalition of voters — including whites who have not supported Barack Obama in recent contests.

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

"There's a pattern emerging here," she said.

Clinton's blunt remarks about race came a day after primaries in Indiana and North Carolina dealt symbolic and mathematical blows to her White House ambitions.

92% of blacks vote Obama. Got racism, much?

JSG. ^5. Going by Mr. Sayet's narrative, it's possible that Barack used Wright in Chicago as a way in to local, urban politics (giving him "street cred"), which in turn springboarded him into the senate.

Assuming that's correct, Bill Clinton used the Arkansans similarly. Not once in his eight-year presidency did he go back to visit, and he threw many of his old pals from there under the bus for the sake of schmoozing with the Martha's Vineyard crowd.

Darn those bogots...let's see, I guess that would be the party that has virtually nominated the first black man in history to be their PRESIDENTIAL candidate...N-o-o-o-o-o-t. See, guys, what's astonishing about this is that it happened at all, not that their have been some racial overtones.

John said...

I guess it's even more astonishing that the first and second African-American Secretary of States were appointed by a Republican (namely, W), and Alan Keyes was in the Republican presidential primaries in 2000.

As was Elizabeth Dole, the FIRST serious female presidential contender.

But I expect as much recognition for that as the for the fact that W received the most popular votes for any one candidate in the history of democracy in 2004.

John said...

cf: Bill Clinton--despite his crowing of "mandates"-- receiving less than 50% of the popular vote both times in 1992 & 1996, or that Hillary has come this far despite having the lowest negatives from the get-go for any presidential contender in recent memory (if not history).

If you want to count token blacks, we'll be happy to give you token recognition. The GOP is more than eager to find blacks who hate being black to put in positions precisely so they can make that argument...I'm surprised you forgot your most famous Tom...Judge Tom. The difference is that Obama is winning on his own -- not being appointed as a figurehead for show. What a goofy "point" with your GW thing, though. Look at the terrible buyer's remorse, now...and what that has to do with bigotry, I don't know...unless you want to flaunt the rights bias against smart, competent people!

The idea that any black who doesn't mindlessly vote for the party of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright somehow "hates being black" is a reflection of the racism at the heart of the Democrat Party.

The notion that unless one is a bitter, angry, racist con artist then one isn't "really black" speaks volumes about the hate the left has for black people who they think are too stupid to succeed.

Why did you put in quotes as if Hagee made it up? The Bible explicitly defines homosexuality as a sin, in many plces, in both the Old and New Testaments. Hagee is a minister of The Bible. He was quoting from there. Take it up with God (if you believe that the Bible is His Word; if not, then your beef is with Judeo-Christianity, not the people whose job it is to tell people what it is).

"Well now meet Rev. Rod Parsley, the televangelist megachurch pastor from Ohio who hates Islam."

You obviously hate Judeo-Christianity.

"According to David Corn of Mother Jones..."

Who? Oh, right, the guy who used for *The Nation* and WASTED everybody's time by being at the vanguard of that "Sixteen Word" yellowcake hysteria (no doubt hoping to become this generation's Woodward & Bernstein but now writing about red herrings for *Mother Jones*).

"...Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a 'false religion.'"

Excuse me, nutjob, but were in this clash of civilizations with Islam because Muslims declared war on Judeo-Christianity, which they consider a "false religion," and then hijacked planes and flew them into the WTC in the Big Apple, the Pentagon in Arlington, and would have crashed another into the Capital Building if not stopped by Todd Beemer and the boys.

"In the past, Parsley has also railed against the separation of church and state, homosexuals, and abortion rights, comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazis."

What is this abortion "rights?" There's no consensus that any human being has the right to take the life of a dependent.

And by the numbers, the slaughter of developing humans by abortion surpasses the numbers of humans killed by the Nazis.

You're premising your own opinion that a fetus does not count as a human as being fact before ridiculing Parsley for counting otherwise.

Obviously when Osama (aka "Joe Islam" aka "The Islamic Pope) declares that Islam, for whom he speaks as its representative, is at war with Judeo-Christian-Zoroastrianism, this carries much weight and one can assume, as a matter of indisputable fact, that Islam, the religion, wants to murder Zoroaster. Not entirely, the Xtians who love to send troops off to kill hundreds of thousands of Muslims in the wrong country for no reason are infinitely worse. Xtianity was always a far more bloodthirsty and vengeful religion than Islam. Hey, how come Democratic Mayor Sammy Rivera isn't on your list of corrupt politicians, boil on evan's ass?

Passaic Mayor Samuel Rivera today pleaded guilty this morning to federal corruption charges and faces up to two years in prison.

Rivera, 61, among 11 public officials caught in a statewide FBI sting last year, pleaded guilty to one count of extortion after being accused of accepting $5,000 in cash from an insurance brokerage firm in exchange for his help getting contracts. The firm turned out to be a front for the FBI.

"Don't worry about it. I'll help you out. I'll help you out," Rivera told an undercover FBI informant last year during one secretly recorded conversation, according to the two-count indictment.

He was indicted earlier this year by a federal grand on bribery and extortion charges. By pleading guilty to the extortion charge, Rivera faces 18 to 24 months in prison under federal sentencing guidelines, according to his lawyer, Henry Klingeman.

He has resigned as mayor of Passaic, effective at 5 p.m. today.

Klingeman said Rivera, an ex-police officer, took the bribe because he needed money. The mayor has a large family that includes several ex-wives, children and grandchildren.

"He struggled. That in no way excuses his conduct. He's very sorry and remorseful, Klingeman said. "This was clearly a crime of opportunity. The informant thrust a wad of cash in his hand and he took it. And he should have said no."

Rivera had been defiant since his arrest and vowed to fight the charges before ultimately pleading guilty before U.S. District Judge Freda Wolfson today.

Most of his fellow defendants, including former assemblyman Alfred Steele, have pleaded guilty, while others, such as former Assemblyman and Orange Mayor Mims Hackett, are headed for trial.

Sinkhole Swallows Texas Town
God is angry with Racist, redneck government

Dasietta, TX - A huge and ravenous sinkhole that threatened to swallow this little East Texas
oil town gobbled more crumbling earth Thursday but spared, at least for now, homes, the high
school and the main road, Farm to Market 770.

“It’s unreal — the earth just wallered up,” said Lynn Wells, the mayor and fire chief,
who monitored emergency efforts, speeding back and forth on his red Harley-Davidson.

Since the rim of an underground salt dome collapsed and the ground cracked and gave way
abruptly Wednesday morning, the hole — already one of the largest on record — has grown to
about 600 feet by 525 feet and 150 feet deep, said some dude at the County Sheriff’s Office.

More importantly, Rassmussen Markets is now saying Nixon is strongly favored to win the Governors race. Rasmussen Markets data now shows that Nixon is favored to win the Missouri Governor’s race. Current expectations for a Nixon victory are at 63.1%.

The REAL Fanatic...Countdown: John McCain’s growing pastor problems
By Muriel Kane Presidential candidate John McCain’s pastor problems are bubbling up again, with Reverend John Hagee, whose support and endorsement McCain has actively sought, reversing last week’s retraction of remarks he made in 2006 blaming the destruction of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina on a planned gay pride parade.

MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann pointed out Hagee’s reversal and also noted that McCain recently had a photo op at a plaque honoring New York firefighters who died on 9/11. Another McCain supporter, the late Reverend Jerry Falwell, famously blamed 9/11 on “the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays” and threatened that it could happen again if “God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.”

Olbermann then asked Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson to comment on how McCain is pulling off “one of the great political magic tricks of all time” by making these questionable connections disappear.

Robinson agreed that Hagee “is a complete lunatic [who] makes Jeremiah Wright sound fairly mainstream, yet McCain seems to get away with this.”

“I don’t see how how McCain … can continue to pretend that Hagee’s not out there,” Robinson continued. “There is a kind of demagoguery gap … Republicans are much better at demogoguing these issues than Democrats are. … Democrats remain tethered to things like objective fact and fairness. But by any standard, there are parallels here that are going to have to be addressed.”

“What is the difference in how McCain and Obama are seen that puts Reverend Wright on the front page and Reverend Hagee nowhere at all?” Olbermann asked. “Is it as simple as black and white?”

Robinson explained that research has shown that “members of one group tend to look at members of a different group and think they have more in common with each other than they necessarily do. … People look at these two black guys, a pastor and Obama, and tend to think they have more in common.”

For God's sake, woman, Bill Clinton was a serial rapist, and you voted for him TWICE!

"Pretty cute and soooo true."

Thank you very much. You should me in my Sunday suit.

showmie gloated and nitpicked:

"Hah! We got a Nixon on our side now and he's kicking pig ass..."

Too bad the Rams haven't since the last century, showmie.

"Rasmussen: Nixon Leads Both Republicans 51% to 35%
Rasmussen has just released a poll...51% to 35%...viewed favorably by 59% and unfavorably by 31%...from 41% and negative feedback from 39%... 41% favorable and 37% unfavorable...M-m-m-more importantly..."

I would think so.

"...Rassmussen Markets...are at 63.1%."

Those stats sound pretty good, but not as good as the stats Kerry had going into the 2004 election.

Do you remember yourself crowing then, showmie?

Come on. You remember.

And those exit polls must have made you really, really happy too. Your long national nightmare was over and you probably started celebrating and drinking and dancing around and pointing your finger at the television and saying "F--k you, losers, you lost, ha ha!" to Bush & Cheney whenever they appeared.

Do you remember what happened then, showmie?

But what about the percentiles going in, showmie?

"DIEBOLD DUNNIT!!!!"

Do you remember when the Rams were going into Super Bowl XXXVI, showmie?

I'm sure you do. What happened to them, showmie?

What happened to "The Greatest Show on Turf"?

They really sucked.

And I'm afraid still do.

Sure, they had that one-hit wonder year in 1999 and then reappeared in 2001 as heavy odds-on-favorite to paste the underdog Patriots.

You remember that Super Bowl, don't you, showmie?

When the Patriots showed you?

Oh, I'm sure you hooted and hollered then, too, with all those promising stats and percentiles in your back pocket.

Did you lose any money, showmie?

Surely you were willing to bet the line, what with all those favorables stacked up in the Rams' column?

But you lost, show me. You were a loser. :(

But you didn't learn your lesson, did you, showmie?

Are you going to come back in here and apologize to Mr. Sayet when Johnny Mac rolls over B. Hussein Obama in a landslide?

Of course you're not. You'll just make excuses and find something else imaginary to gloat about while you spew your venom at your good host.

Take your medicine, showmie. B. Hussein is a lightweight preened and propped up by Democratic king-maker Uncle Teddy and who's going to make the fool mistake of either allowing Billary on the ticket as veep (which will assure his assassination) or let them campaign for him, like they really, really want to "if" they lose the nomination.

Ha ha. Working on the inside (from where Bill likes to sow his mischief), Bill will do to him what he did to Hillary, only it's going to be worse because Hillary will help him do for him what he did for her (i.e. LOSE).

Ha ha!

Fools!

And the Rams suck.

Oh, I know they had that last desperate spasm in '03 when they won their division and made the playoffs, but that was it, and it's not the same thing as going all the way, as you remember and will have to deal with once again come November but on a much higher plain of defeat.

Btw, speaking of B. Hussein, isn't it kinda funny how President Bush likes to go by his middle initial "W," but you can't mention B. Hussein's?

I guess that counts as "change" (in lieu of an other specifics).

Olbermann likes to gloat that it's not smart for McCain supporters to call B. hussein "The Manchurian Candidate."

He's got a good point there (what with the parallels of the M.C. with McCain outnumbering the paralllels with the M.C. and B. Hussein).

Likewise, however, it's not good opening a segment featuring Keith Olbermann with the words "The REAL fanatic."

No, John, think about this: The Black Cabinet was first known as the Federal Council of Negro Affairs, an informal group of African American public policy advisors to United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt. And it was supported by the first lady Eleanor Roosevelt. By mid-1935there were 45 African Americans working in federal executive departments and New Deal agencies.

Hey, John:

McCain to Bush in 2000: “Don’t Give Me That Sh*t. And Take Your Hands Off Me.”
By: Jon Perr on Friday, May 9th, 2008 at 5:00 PM - PDT Four days after Arianna Huffington first reported it, John McCain’s 2000 VoteGate has become the election issue du jour. The New York Times, the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times have all run stories confirming Huffington’s account that in 2000 a still steaming McCain did not vote for George W. Bush, the man who savaged him and his family during the Republican primaries. But as the fevered denials from his campaign show, the story of McCain’s hate-love relationship with Bush is the tale of Mr. Straght Talk’s tightrope walk from personal pride to political opportunism.

Huffington’s she said, he said about McCain’s 2000 vote began on Monday. Huffington claimed that a gathering in Los Angeles after the November election John McCain told her, “I didn’t vote for George Bush.” (Cindy McCain, apparently more forthcoming about her 2000 vote than her 2007 tax returns, chimed in, “I didn’t either.”) After McCain spokesman Mark Salter protested, “it’s not true and I ask you to consider the source,” the Times and the Post verified Huffington’s account with West Wing stars Bradley Whitford and Richard Schiff, both of whom were in attendance at Candace Bergen’s Beverly Hills bash that night.

What is beyond dispute, however, is McCain’s past hatred for George W. Bush. As Time reported in March 2000, McCain then showed a visceral disgust towards Bush and his scorched earth campaign:

But many close McCain advisers think the personal rift between the two men is too wide to bridge, at least in the near term. After all, the last time Bush tried to smooth things over-at a South Carolina debate in early February-the result was less than promising. During a commercial break, Bush grasped McCain’s hands and made a sugary plea for less acrimony in their campaign. When McCain pointed out that Bush’s allies were savaging him in direct-mail and phone campaigns, Bush played the innocent. “Don’t give me that shit,” McCain growled, pulling away. “And take your hands off me.”

John McCain could certainly be forgiven for his anger, given the painful memories of character assassination, smears and lies the Bush camp dished out during the 2000 campaign. After McCain’s upset win in the New Hampshire primary, Bush operatives during the critical South Carolina contest phoned voters with push polls implying McCain was anti-Catholic, his wife Cindy a drug addict, and that he had fathered an illegitimate black child with a prostitute. (In reality, the McCains had adopted a baby from an orphanage in Bangladesh.) McCain even received an early version of the Swift Boat treatment, with allegations that his Vietnam War captivity in Hanoi left him mentally unstable. All of these slurs came as candidate Bush chastised McCain that he couldn’t “take the high horse and then claim the low road.” It’s no wonder he angrily rejected Bush’s feigned attempt in 2000 to bury the hatchet.

But by 2004, John McCain was looking towards his next White House run - and life after Bush. McCain’s presidential ambitions let him forgive sins past in order to rebuild relations with Bush and the Republican establishment. McCain’s long road back began during election 2004. McCain not only stumped for George W. Bush, but joined the chorus of the Swift Boat hacks by stating that “what John Kerry did after the war is very legitimate political discussion.” (Only the previous month, McCain himself called the attacks on Kerry “dishonest and dishonorable.”) Dana Perino was exaggerating only slightly when she claimed that “in 2000 and 2004, Senator McCain went on to work his tail off to help this president.”

From there, the selling of John McCain’s soul proceeded quickly and his Faustian bargain began to pay dividends. At the Southern Leadership Conference in March 2006, McCain McCain asked the delegates to throw their support to President Bush. McCain used the venue to offer a full-throated support of President Bush and his Iraq policy, proclaiming “We elected him, we need him, he needs to do well and the country needs him.” McCain turned his vitriol towards the President’s critics, claiming that anyone who said Bush lied about WMD in Iraq “was lying.” By mid-2006, McCain had secured the backing of much of the Bush financial machine.

The rest, as they say, is history. With the GOP nomination still hanging in the balance, John McCain in February proclaimed, “I would be proud to have President Bush campaign with me and support me in any way that he feels is appropriate. And I would appreciate it.” Having adopted virtually the entire Bush agenda in his 2008 run (including an acrobatic flip-flop on making the Bush tax cuts permanent), John McCain in March warmly accepted Bush’s Rose Garden endorsement as coming from” a man who I have a great admiration, respect and affection” for.

But with the Republican nomination secured, McCain began the great walk back from George Walker Bush and his record-setting disapproval numbers. On April 1, 2008, McCain laughably claimed, “I’m not running on the Bush presidency.” And during his so-called “Forgotten Places” tour, McCain lambasted Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina. (That show of disgust was merely that - a show. As it turns out, his campaign staff is closely coordinating with the White House to create the facade of separation between John McCain and George W. Bush.)

As the general election approaches, the Arizona Senator has completed his fawning courtship of George W. Bush. But in suppressing his burning hatred for Bush in the name of his no-holds barred pursuit of the White House, John McCain may yet pay a price with the American people. As the New Republic’s Michael Crowley suggested last August, John McCain is about to learn “you can’t un-sell out.”

Hey, Johnboyo:

Digging a little deeper into McCain ethical lapses

Posted: 09 May 2008 06:00 PM CDT

When considering John McCain’s history of unethical behavior, the list usually starts (and ends) with the Keating Five scandal in the 1980s, for which McCain was rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee for having shown, at a minimum, poor judgment. While McCain took on the role of a “reformer” in the scandal’s aftermath, his ethical lapses have hardly disappeared.

The NYT noted a few weeks ago, for example, that McCain went to considerable lengths in 1999 to help one of his top campaign fundraisers buy the land at an Army base that was being closed. McCain helped his benefactor get the land — and special water rights — for just $250,000, which the donor then sold two years later for $30 million. (The donor, Donald Diamond, was rather candid about buying influence with politicians: “I want my money back, for Christ’s sake. Do you know how many cocktail parties I have to go to?”) It’s the kind of obvious influence peddling McCain swears he never gets involved with.

Today, the WaPo has a front-page item highlighting yet another real-estate controversy in which McCain helped out one of his most generous supporters.

Sen. John McCain championed legislation that will let an Arizona rancher trade remote grassland and ponderosa pine forest here for acres of valuable federally owned property that is ready for development, a land swap that now stands to directly benefit one of his top presidential campaign fundraisers.

Initially reluctant to support the swap, the Arizona Republican became a key figure in pushing the deal through Congress after the rancher and his partners hired lobbyists that included McCain’s 1992 Senate campaign manager, two of his former Senate staff members (one of whom has returned as his chief of staff), and an Arizona insider who was a major McCain donor and is now bundling campaign checks.

When McCain’s legislation passed in November 2005, the ranch owner gave the job of building as many as 12,000 homes to SunCor Development, a firm in Tempe, Ariz., run by Steven A. Betts, a longtime McCain supporter who has raised more than $100,000 for the presumptive Republican nominee.

Betts now claims that he and McCain never discussed the real-estate deal, but there are some real oddities to McCain’s behavior on this one.

McCain initially withheld support for Hayworth’s bill, which failed in 2002. Ruskin saw McCain’s restraint as an obstacle. He said Senate staff members warned him that the senator was wary of a swap because “he spent some political capital and got some bricks thrown at him” over the Tonto National Forest deal.

Ruskin, who is a pediatrician by training, said he realized he needed to hire lobbyists “to open communications with McCain’s office.”

He turned to some of McCain’s closest former advisers. In 2002, he sought out Mark Buse, McCain’s former staff director at the Senate commerce committee, which the senator chaired.

“I had gone to him to see if he had any advice as to how to deal with McCain,” Ruskin said. “We had a couple of meetings and I paid him a little bit.” Buse’s federal lobbying records do not list the ranch as a client.

That year, lobbying records show, Ruskin also paid $60,000 to Michael Jimenez, another former McCain aide. Wes Gullett, who had worked in McCain’s Senate office, managed his 1992 reelection bid, and served as deputy campaign manager for his 2000 presidential run, also lobbied on the bill, documents show. The watchdog group Public Citizen lists Gullett and his wife, Deborah, as bundlers who have raised more than $100,000 for McCain’s White House bid. Ruskin also hired Gullett’s partner, Kurt R. Davis, another McCain bundler and member of the senator’s Arizona leadership team, to work with local officials and “to help with McCain if we needed help.” Buse, Jimenez and Gullett did not return calls seeking comment.

Despite his previous opposition, and despite reports that the government was getting a raw deal, McCain ultimately switched, clearly the way for a land swap that directly helped one of his biggest donors.

Worse, this may be part of a pattern.

Betts is among a string of donors who have benefited from McCain-engineered land swaps. In 1994, the senator helped a lobbyist for land developer Del Webb Corp. pursue an exchange in the Las Vegas area, according to the Center for Public Integrity. McCain sponsored two bills, in 1991 and 1994, sought by donor Donald R. Diamond that yielded the developer thousands of acres in trade for national parkland.

In the late 1990s, McCain promoted a deal in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest involving property part-owned by Great American Life Insurance, a company run by billionaire Carl H. Lindner Jr., a prolific contributor to national political parties and presidential candidates.

First, this is something to keep in mind the next time the media characterizes McCain as pure as the driven snow.

Second, if the Rezko story was considered a big deal by campaign reporters, this sketchy behavior on McCain’s part should be huge.

Republicans Vote Against Moms; No Word Yet on Puppies, Kittens

By Dana Milbank
Friday, May 9, 2008; A03

It was already shaping up to be a difficult year for congressional Republicans. Now, on the cusp of Mother's Day, comes this: A majority of the House GOP has voted against motherhood.

On Wednesday afternoon, the House had just voted, 412 to 0, to pass H. Res. 1113, "Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother's Day," when Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.), rose in protest.

"Mr. Speaker, I move to reconsider the vote," he announced.

Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Fla.), who has two young daughters, moved to table Tiahrt's request, setting up a revote. This time, 178 Republicans cast their votes against mothers.

It has long been the custom to compare a popular piece of legislation to motherhood and apple pie. Evidently, that is no longer the standard. Worse, Republicans are now confronted with a John Kerry-esque predicament: They actually voted for motherhood before they voted against it.

Republicans, unhappy with the Democratic majority, have been using such procedural tactics as this all week to bring the House to a standstill, but the assault on mothers may have gone too far. House Minority Leader John Boehner, asked yesterday to explain why he and 177 of his colleagues switched their votes, answered: "Oh, we just wanted to make sure that everyone was on record in support of Mother's Day."

By voting against it?

If Boehner's explanation doesn't make much sense, he's been under a great deal of stress lately.

There's the case of one member of his caucus, Rep. Vito Fossella (N.Y.); the father of three from Staten Island yesterday announced that he has a fourth, a 3-year-old love child with a woman from Virginia. That admission was prompted by his drunken-driving arrest in Virginia last week, when he told police he was on his way to see his daughter. "I think Mr. Fossella is going to have some decisions to make over the weekend," Boehner said at his news conference yesterday, cutting Fossella loose. Fossella was spotted on the House floor, in tears, speaking to the chaplain.

For the record, Fossella did not participate in the Mother's Day vote.

Neither is Boehner likely to be helped by a Senate ethics committee decision yesterday exonerating Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) over his use of the "D.C. Madam's" call girls. The Senate cleared him because the prostitution occurred when he was in the House -- and the House can't punish him because he left for the Senate. The madam, meanwhile, killed herself by hanging last week.

Then Boehner must grapple with the problematic case of Don Cazayoux. The Democrat last week won a House seat in Louisiana vacated by Republican Richard Baker. The seat hadn't been held by a Democrat since 1974, and President Bush won 59 percent of the vote in the district in 2004. "The loss in Louisiana is a wake-up call," Boehner admitted yesterday.

Worse news could come for Boehner on Tuesday, when Mississippi voters decide on a replacement for Rep. Roger Wicker (R) in a district where Bush won 62 percent of the vote in 2004. The seat should be a safe one for Republicans, but Democrat Travis Childers is running even with Republican Greg Davis -- a potential sign of things to come in November, when Republicans stand to lose another 10 seats.

Whatever happens in Mississippi, Boehner has enough trouble to preoccupy him here in Washington, where House Democrats have been passing their agenda with little thought for Republican preferences. "The majority has taken, once again, their go-it-alone policy," Boehner lamented yesterday. "It's time for Democrats and Republicans to work together."

To induce this working together, Boehner decided to stop the House from working at all. As House Democrats tried to pass legislation to ease the mortgage crisis on Wednesday, Republicans served up hours of procedural delays, demanding a score of roll call votes: 10 motions to adjourn, half a dozen motions to reconsider, various and sundry amendments, a motion to approve the daily journal, a motion to instruct and a "motion to rise."

The high point came just after 6 p.m., when, after one of the motions to adjourn, 61 members lined up to change their votes, one by one. Forty-six went from aye to no, while 15 changed from no to aye. The maneuver ate up 28 minutes in all -- and caused an eruption by Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, who accused the minority of a "filibuster by vote changing."

"I know that probably all of you did polls on that and focus groups on whether or not you should vote aye or nay," Hoyer mocked. "What just happened is not appropriate for the House for either side, to simply use a device of changing votes, of voting late, of lining up in the aisle and coming down every 30 seconds or so with one more vote."

But the dilatory maneuvers continued, and the Democrats finally announced that they would postpone the vote on the mortgage bill until Thursday, thereby pushing a war spending bill to next week.

Finally, Republicans decided yesterday to suspend their shenanigans; it was time to catch flights to their districts. "Never underestimate the desire of members to go home," Boehner spokesman Kevin Smith explained.

They might also need some extra time with their mothers.

"Some boring little guys..."

Do we really bore you, big man? (or woman; I really can't tell by the transgender voice--no offense, of course. Lefty males are effete and lefty females think their clitorises are penises).

Well, I beg your pardon. I always thought that horse-whipping snide and contemptuous lefties on the Worldwide Web (don't worry, I really think that a part of them really enjoys it, which is why they keep coming back for more) made for some entertaining blog theater.

I'm sure I'll have plenty more opportunities to pique your interest, though, with all the lefties that come barging in here begging for abuse (aka "tough love" wink-wink).

"...who believe their skydaddy is the only skydaddy..."

Well, if they're monotheists, duh.

"...and who worry a lot about blowjobs..."

Hold on there. The only person who "worried a lot about (just) a blowjob" was the person who went well out of his way and saw fit to dance on--if not cross over-- the line of illegality in order to keep "just a blowjob" a secret and he thought that keeping it under wraps warranted (1) a pre-meditated, large-scale cover-up that tore the nation asunder while many millions of tax-payers' dollars were being spent in order to try to reconcile that person's sworn word with reality, (2) an insidious defense strategy that played heagames with the American people, and (3) the targeted destruction of the character of a young woman who had given him "just a blowjob."

So who was "worrying a lot about (just) a blowjob," bin?

It wasn't me.

"no wonder they can't deal with real problems in the real world..."

It ain't conservatives who have made psychotherapy a multi-billion dollar industry, binny.

"...is there such a thing as a conservative left on the planet or have freaks and goofballs like these driven them all out?"

There's a few left somewhere, but I'll find them and drive them out, too, because then there'll be no one to protect you from freaks like me (and don't even think about the UN).

"Serial rapist!!? Wow...this is a low rent site..."

I guess those woman were all "nuts or sluts" as his damage control "war room" delicately referred to them during the '93 campaign, and were bought and paid for by the vast, right-wing conspiracy, as far as a "high rent" mind like yourself is concerned.

Juanita Broadrick was just poor white trash who should be grateful that the governor even gave her the time of day.

And besides, if nt a nut or a slut, she's a liar, and Clinton is not.

And as for sexual harrassment, well, you know, binny. Boys will be boys.

I guess you wouldn't mind if I exposed myself to one of your girlfriends (or hey, even your mother or sister, since it's "no big deal") and told them to "kiss it."

"see..."

Here we go again. Okay, binnie, I'll try real hard to peer over the walls of my ignorance and get a glimpse of the sunrise of your enlightenment.

"...we..."

What's with "we" again, binnie? Are you part of some kind of commitee?

"...tend to discount sicko fantasies like sky beings.."

Waitasec, binnie. Earlier your gripe was against Judeo-Chistian monotheism being championed at the expense of polytheism, or someone's own personal belief in pink unicorns (being just as valid, really, after all, right?), or some other cultural variant, for the sake of dversity and inclusion.

But you just gave up your game. You hate theists, plain and simple, and the Judeo-Christian ones worse of all. I'm sure you tolerate the others if only because they dilute the singular integrity of Judeo-Christian monotheism, and especially if they wage war against it.

Ben Stein was right. At the crux of the Culture War is theism versus atheism.

The God of Moses and Jesus Christ is your biggest stumbling block, and must be destroyed.

Good luck against the Omnipotent, toughguy.

Beware the words of Euripedes, though: "Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad."

And it really sounds like you put yourself in the crosshairs.

"...non-existent murders (how many have the Clintons committed again...54?)..."

I never said the Clintons themselves actually murdered anyone. And you brought up the Clinton Death List, not me, and arbitrarily lumped bizzare deaths--and actual murders--of people who wer fool enough to get in the Clinton's orbit with women giving testimony for affidavits used in a sexual harrassment case."

"When do the big boys show up around here, or do I have to look elsewhere?"

Well if it isn't Mae West. How many will it take?

Wait, before you go, can you please tell who or what Riko is?

He or it seems to be very popular in your crowd these days.

GOP getting crushed in polls, key races
By: Jim VandeHei and David Paul Kuhn
May 11, 2008 09:57 AM EST

John McCain is planning to run as a different kind of Republican. But being any kind of Republican seems like some sort of death sentence these days.

In case you’ve been too consumed by the Democratic race to notice, Republicans are getting crushed in historic ways both at the polls and in the polls.

At the polls, it has been a massacre. In recent weeks, Republicans have lost a Louisiana House seat they had held for more than two decades and an Illinois House seat they had held for more than three. Internal polls show that next week they could lose a Mississippi House seat that they have held for 13 years.

In the polls, they are setting records (and not the good kind). The most recent Gallup Poll has 67 percent of voters disapproving of President Bush; those numbers are worse than Richard Nixon’s on the eve of his resignation. A CBS News poll taken at the end of April found only 33 percent of Americans have a favorable view of the GOP — the lowest since CBS started asking the question more than two decades ago. By comparison, 52 percent of the public has a favorable view of the Democratic Party.

Things are so bad that many people don’t even want to call themselves Republicans. The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has found the lowest percentage of self-described Republicans in 16 years of polling.

“The anti-Republican mood is fairly big, and it has been overwhelming,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis.

With an environment so toxic, does McCain have even a chance of winning in November?

Under Clinton's rules, Obama still wins
Why the Obama-Clinton ticket is nuts
The McCain camp thinks so — but only if he sands down the “R” next to his name. “Nobody ever gets elected president by running on their party label,” said Charlie Black, a senior McCain adviser. “The character, the qualities, the independence — that certainly allows him to rise over the party label. It is more important than usual to rise above the party label.”

This statement seems a little at odds with the current McCain strategy. The presumptive GOP nominee has spent much of the recent campaign fastening himself to the traditional Republican brand and even to Bush himself. McCain’s views on the war, the overall economy (especially supporting the Bush tax cuts he previously opposed), the mortgage crisis and judicial appointments are hardly the stuff of a new kind of Republicanism.

McCain risks looking inauthentic and conventional to both camps if he simply solidifies his standing with conservatives and then races back to the middle to appeal to swing voters.

For now, Republicans are heartened by how well McCain sometimes does in head-to-head polling with Barack Obama, the likely Democratic nominee. But it’s silly to watch those numbers: They fluctuate and reflect nothing more than momentary feelings about the candidates, and they come at a time when public attention is fixed on the final rounds of the Democratic slugfest.

Right now, most voters with any familiarity with McCain probably know him as a war hero, somewhat of a maverick in the Senate and a pretty affable candidate. Let’s see how they view McCain after Democrats use their decisive money advantage to paint him as a much-older Bush clone who loves an unpopular war and knows little about the economy.

Democrats provided us a look at their polling data from 17 swing states — data they’re using to craft new attacks on McCain as Bush 44. The Democratic National Committee polling, according to a memo it provided, has two-thirds of swing voters expecting McCain to pursue policies very similar to Bush’s. The voters’ top three concerns about McCain: his age, his support for the war and his similarities to Bush.

The latest DNC ad ties two of the three together, slamming McCain over the war and showing a picture of him embracing Bush. Lots more to come on that front, DNC officials said. The DNC will leave the age issue alone for now.

Many top Republicans seem heartened by Obama’s likely victory on the Democratic side. They say they’re confident Obama will pay a big price for his relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the persistent questions about his patriotism and his inability to connect with working-class whites in swing states.

These are all big problems for Obama. But he will have a massive cash advantage when it comes time to fight back, and the Republican National Committee’s fundraising edge over the DNC won’t be enough to overcome it. Consider this fact: Since the beginning of last year, Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and the DNC have raised $460 million total — about $200 million more than what McCain, Mitt Romney and the RNC raised together in the same time span.

Rich liberals operating outside the traditional fundraising structure are also in private talks to vastly outspend the GOP on issue ads and voter mobilization efforts.

Still, McCain’s biggest problem is the toxic political atmosphere for his party.

It’s so toxic, some Republicans are pointing to 1976 as a favorable historical comparison. That was the year Gerald Ford ran in the dark shadows of Watergate and lost to Jimmy Carter. Says Dick Wadhams, the chairman of the Colorado Republican Party: “When voters really homed in on the choice between Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter and what each stood for, Gerald Ford almost won the election despite this horrible environment.”

Almost.

Ben Stein was right. At the crux of the Culture War is theism versus atheism.

Well, Stein had recently made a couple interesting statements. But you probably don't like those so much. But this silliness!...there are so many liberal, progressive and decent believers out there that this is ridiculous on it's face...but the quality of ridiculousness is the very touchstone of most riko belief, isn't it? Personally, of course, I find any and all of this theistic childishness beneath me, but if there are believers who manage to be decent in their societal, enviro and political beliefs, they are certainly light years ahead of the repellent, backward trogs in the GOPig trough...small and diminishing in no. though these swine may be.

Neil Cavuto almost had a fist-fight on his hands Saturday (June 17, 2006) during "Cavuto on Business" when his Republican panelists took opposite sides on whether George Bush's tax cuts have been good for the economy or have caused record deficits. His usually reliable Republican guest, Ben Stein, criticized the Bush tax cuts, and that was almost more than Cavuto could stand.

Cavuto pegged his show on the premise that viewers should "forgot talk that tax cuts only help the rich. There could be proof now that they help all of us.”

Since the Bush tax cuts of 2003, Cavuto said, without citing a source, the economy has grown by 20 percent, 6.2 million jobs have been added, and tax receipts are up 30 percent. Cavuto failed to say if the 6.2 million jobs was a net figure, what the average salaries of those jobs were, or what the federal deficit is.

Jim Rogers, author of Hot Commodities, took the usual GOP line that, "we can spend our money better than Congress can, better than George Bush can, or better than Clinton could. We spend our money and it makes things better.”

Token Democrat Gregg Hymowitz countered that low interest rates may have helped the economy more than the tax cuts, and that the economy might have done even better had the tax cuts been targeted to the middle and lower class rather than to the rich.

Even Tom Petrie, of Petrie Parkman & Co., noted that higher energy prices are behind the growth in revenues, prompting Hymowitz to note that the energy sector does not reflect how the average American is doing.

That was all predictable, until Ben Stein, author of How Successful People Win, complained that the federal deficit has grown by 2.5 trillion since 2001. Sensing he was losing control, Cavuto interrupted Stein with, "We had a recession that year."

Stein responded, and Cavuto jumped in again with the Bush administration mantra: "We had a recession, we had an attack, and we had a war."

Still Stein pushed ahead, saying, "Dear Friend, Neil, the economy is 20 percent bigger than in 2000, income tax receipts are still less than they were in 2000." The tax cuts may have stimulated the economy, he said, but they also created a giant deficit so that U.S. Treasury bills may be downgraded in 2012 to near junk-bond status. "We have got to put our fiscal house in order in this country. Pretending tax cuts will do it is just not going to work," he said.

John Layfield, radio talk show host and wrestler, came dangerously close to blaming Republicans, saying, "Our government is as fiscally irresponsible as it has been in recent years," but settled for blaming "Congress" without specifying that it's Republicans who are in charge.

"It's Congress' fault. They keep spending all this money and George Bush keeps spending all this money. We got to stop the spending," Rogers said. And when Stein admitted he was for raising taxes, Rogers pointed to Democrats as the bogey men saying, "You’re telling me Teddy Kennedy can spend my money better than I can?"

Rebecca Gomez, Fox News business reporter, attempted to contribute to the discussion by noting that the administration is "comfortable" with the level of spending and deficits. But Stein rightly dismissed her statement of the obvious, saying, "The fact that people are comfortable doesn’t make it right. They were also comfortable invading Iraq and that turned out to be a big mistake, too."

Cavuto, who obviously hadn't anticipated having to fight off Stein in addition to Hymowitz on an issue such as this, noted that the deficit now is a smaller portion of the economy than it was at the height of the Reagan deficits. Apparently, he thinks that's a good thing but comparisons to Reagan deficits are nothing to brag about in my book. Especially since the author of voodoo economics, David Stockman, has admitted that he knew big tax cuts would never balance the budget, although he predicted the opposite at the time. Why doesn't Cavuto compare Bush's deficits to the Clinton surpluses?

Who knows what made Stein leave the security of the GOP fold? He obviously has little faith in the U.S. economy. When it came time to recommend stocks, Stein urged people to buy ishares Emerging Markets (EEM), which invests in foreign economies through companies such as Samsung Electronics and Taiwan Semiconductor.

Can it be good for W if the smart money admits on Fox News that it is fleeing the U.S?

Anyhoo,Evan Sayet said...the idea that any black who doesn't mindlessly vote for the party of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright somehow "hates being black" is a reflection of the racism at the
heart of the Democrat Party.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo, Evan, are you assuming that African-Americans are mindless when they vote Democratic but are somehow not mindless when they vote Republican? Gee, it looks like Stephen Hawking thinks black geniuses need affirmative action...racist dawg!!Stephen Hawking, the wheelchair-bound physicist, has launched a search for the "Einsteins of Africa" with a lecture in Cape Town.
Prof Hawking's speech at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), titled Universe, marked the expansion of the postgraduate institution in an effort to accelerate Africa's development.

Two Nobel physics laureates – a prize which still eludes the author of A Brief History of Time – along with the head of Nasa, also took part.

Prof Hawking, 66, said: "The world of science needs Africa's brilliant talents, and I look forward to meeting prospective young Einsteins from Africa in the near future. If my visit helps to create opportunities for Africans to enter maths and science, I will be delighted."

AIMS was founded four years ago by Neil Turok, professor of mathematical physics at Cambridge university, and an education activist. The centre receives six applications for every place and 160 people have graduated from it so far.

Prof Turok has co-developed advanced theories about the origins of the universe with Prof Hawking, but now has diametrically opposed views in certain areas.

"As well as an African Einstein, we want to see the African Gates, Brins and Pages of the future," he said, referring to the founders of Microsoft and Google.

Wildly SUCCESSFUL Sean Penn also a Highly Evolved Idealist and Activist!!
Sean Penn: a Hollywood rebel with many causes
Published: Monday May 12, 2008

A darling of the anti-establishment who is famous for tackling powerful, challenging roles, Sean Penn is widely viewed as one of the finest actors and directors of his generation.

Penn, 47, who heads the nine-strong jury that will award the Palme d'Or at the Cannes film festival opening this week, has seen his stock rise since the mid-1990s, with a best actor Oscar for 2003's "Mystic River" and three more Academy Award nominations.

Although his work behind the lens has been restricted to a handful of films, Penn won critical acclaim for his sensitive directorial performance on last year's moving drama "Into the Wild."

As Penn's career has flourished he has also become a vocal political activist, regularly enraging conservative pundits in the United States for his strident criticism of President George W. Bush, who he has said should be impeached.

He was lambasted for visiting Iraq in December 2002, which came two months after he paid 56,000 dollars for an advertisement in the Washington Post protesting Bush's "War on Terror" and planned invasion of Iraq.

Penn has also reportedly developed a friendship with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, another bete-noire of the Bush administration.

Born in August 1960 in Los Angeles to director Leo Penn and actress Eileen Ryan, Penn grew up in the industry that he has so often infuriated by not playing its game and gave up his dream of being a lawyer to study acting.

In 1981 he made his Broadway debut in the play "Heartland" and his movie debut as a military cadet in "Taps" (1981). He won some fame as a "surfer dude" in Amy Heckerling's 1982 hit teen flick "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."

He then took starring roles in films such as "Colors" (1988) opposite Richard Dreyfuss, as a brutal sergeant in Brian de Palma's "Casualties of War" (1989) and in the 1989 comedy "We're no Angels" with Robert De Niro.

In 1991 his made his directorial debut with "The Indian Runner," an impressive Vietnam War-themed drama inspired by a Bruce Springsteen song.

Penn appeared as a reptilian lawyer in the 1993 thriller "Carlito's Way," before saying he was retiring from acting to direct, and then making 1995's "The Crossing Guard" with Jack Nicholson and Anjelica Huston.

In 1995 he was lured back to the screen by friend Tim Robbins, only to win his first Oscar nomination for the death row tale "Dead Man Walking."

As his bad boy image began to wear off, he garnered two more Academy Award nods for "Sweet and Lowdown" (1999) and for his role as a mentally-handicapped father in 2001's "I am Sam."

Look, I don't blame you people. You realize that you can't win this election on the issues. That the war in Iraq is a quagmire that the American people have overwhelmingly rejected. That 7 years of Bush economic policy has managed to send our economy into the tank. That the sort of fear-mongering that the Republicans got away with for 5 years ended in November of 2006.

So you're going to try to make this election about everything but the issues. It'll be nothing but petty, personality-based attacks from now until November. This blog, and others like it, will contain not a hint of actual substance, but will instead continue the same tactics of personal destruction that the Right has used so successfully. I get it. That's the game. What I can't understand, what is puzzling to me, is why you people refuse to acknowledge why people who have already voted for Obama in the primary have done so. It's because, of the three candidates, he is the one who most clearly represents a rejection of everything Bush and Cheney stand for. That's it. So save your petty, personality bullshit for the undecided voters. They'll reject you too, of course, but at least they might listen first.

Speak for yourself. Actually, you are. You're projecting. You just unwittingly admitted that you would resort to petty, personality based attacks in lieu of any substantive argument for or against the issues, which is never justified.

"That the war in Iraq is a quagmire..."

Get out of the 60's. The "war" has been over for a long time. We're staying on to assist the young but functional democratic government survive subversive attacks from Al Qaeda and Iran.

I'm pretty damn sure that you consider the new government there illegitimate and a "puppet" and that you hope it fails if only to make Bush look bad, and it's not going to fail as long as we don't precipitously bail out on it.

And so, of course, you call it a failure and a day and want to precipitouly bail on it to prove you right.

Your pettiness is so profound that you would allow massive death and chaos to satisfy it.

"...that the American people have overwhelmingly rejected."

So now you're speaking on behalf of "The American People" who, when they overwhelmingly mandated Bush and his policies in 2004, your crowd spent the first half of 2005 in a foaming fit calling for the disenfranchisement of the Red State Christians--American people, btw-- who came out in droves to deny Kerry and put him over the top and I even overheard talks of Civil War, your contempt for the American People was so great, so don't give me that crap that you champion democracy when all of you are nothing but Orwellian pigs who have managed to manipulate a sizable number of hens and cows to swallow your insidious lies.

"That 7 years of Bush economic policy has managed to send our economy into the tank."

"Into the tank." More hyperbolic hysteria (like "The Very Worst President In History" and the "Debacle in Iraq").

Lies repeated often and loudly enough to create confusion and malaise (congratulations, fork-tongue) and the impression that we are on the brink of the Greatest Depression of All (thanks to Bush!) but the numbers that just came out don't even have us in recession.

There's problems brought on by a lot of things (congressional spending by Republicans is one of them, emerging nations like China and India competing for resources a greater one, obstructionism by environmentalists yet another), but despite everything else (like the mess that had to be cleaned up after eight years of Clintonism hitting the fan at the opening of the 21st Century), we still have a 5% unemployment rate (considered "full employment" by many economists), 96% of mortgages being paid, and a sluggish .6% growth that is nevertheless growth, NOT recession.

What's "in the tank" are rock-bottom interest rates, and the DOW had broken the Clinton-era record (which saved him from removal) and is still hovering at those historically high records.

Yet, according to you, the economy is "in the tank," which is just proof how far removed from reality your rhetoric is, you lying sack of shit.

"That the sort of fear-mongering that the Republicans got away with for 5 years ended in November of 2006."

lol Snake. Pelosi's congress has lower approvals than Bush does.

So the "American people have overwhelmingly rejected" what was begun there in 2006, by your own demagogic standards.

"So you're going to try to make this election about everything but the issues. It'll be nothing but petty, personality-based attacks from now until November."

Yeah. Keep neurotically projecting. That's all you and your pals have been doing here at Mr. Sayet's long before I came here.

Look at your own name, fool: "Evan is a Boil on the Ass of Society."

Gee, Boil, that's not a petty, personality-based attack.

Knucklehead.

"This blog, and others like it, will contain not a hint of actual substance..."

Right. "Not a hint." More hyperbole.

Not even a little, teensy-weensy bit, Boil?

"Nope. Absolutely zero."

The substance of this post was the Left's fixation on the color of skin over the content of character. NONE OF YOU trolls addressed that self-evidence. You just spewed hateful ad hominems (protesting too much, methinks).

"...but will instead continue the same tactics of personal destruction that the Right has used so successfully."

More "us" and "them," eh, Boil, "Mr. American People?"

It might have something to do with Hillary having the highest disapproval ratings of any candidate entering the primaries in memory (if not ever).

And because he's black, which WAS THE POINT OF THIS POST.

"...It's because, of the three candidates, he is the one who most clearly represents a rejection of everything Bush and Cheney stand for."

Uhhhh...Rich white guys?

"That's it. So save your petty, personality bullshit for the undecided voters. They'll reject you too, of course, but at least they might listen first."

"Personality bullshit" is what's driven the Democratic primaries since Uncle Teddy became kingmaker and has presided over JFK-wannabe beauty contests for the last few decades.

In other words, you're projecting. Again.

Two Words. Bell Curve.

FJ, are you still peddling the Bell Curve to argue that African-Americans are intellectually inferior to caucasians? Are Asians intellectually superior to caucasians? The Bell Curve has been thoroughly debunked as it is based on several false premises:

1. Human Cognitive ability is a single general entity, depictable as a single number.

2. Cognitive ability has a heritability of between 40 and 80 percent and is therefore primarily genetically based.

3. IQ is essentially immutable, fixed over the course of a life span.

4. IQ tests measure how "smart" or "intelligent" people are and are capable of rank ordering people in a linear order.

5. IQ tests can measure this accurately.

6. IQ tests are not biased with regard to race ethnic group or socioeconomic status.

And, even if one of these premises is false, the entire theory is blown out of the water. But, in fact, they are all false, as C. Loring Brace points out in "Science" in the Service of Racism.

Bell Curve Lie

You're actually owning up to that, anonymous?

"and it's not just intellectual weakness, but worse, moral weakness...which is why we haven't been able to address the population, resource, economic and justice problems which are now too far along to stop in time..."

Oh really, sage?

Are population problems the fault of Roman Catholics speaking out against the use of condoms and abortion, or lowlifes who think they're entitled to have sex and have children and expect the government to take care of them?

Who's the "moral weakling?"

"Resource problems?"

Whose obstructing homeland oil drilling, and the building of new refineries and nuclear power plants for the sake of spotted butterflies and reindeer?

Maybe we should try telling the Chines and the Indians to chill out on their consumption and to stop procreating like a billion rabbits.

Actually, we did, and they just said that maybe we should stop eating so much because we're fat slobs (but don't look at me. I'm very streamlined and sexy, unlike, in all likelihood, you)

"Economic problems?" We're still--by fat--the wealthiest nation in the world. Per capita income has risen steadily (if not sharply). We're at practically full employment. We're having a hard time keeping out illegal aliens coming here because they're fleeing countries with REAL "economic problems " to come here and make easy money.

"Justice problems?" True, O.J. Simpson should be rotting in prison, not playing golf.

"we've had to drag you inferior swine along every step of the way in building civilization and in trying to save it..."

Two points for an inverted projection.

You did nothing to help build civilization. Your parasitical kind has leeched off it while trying to destroy it.

"you won...we'll all be going down together back to the trees where you freaks belong...but we don't."

What are you talking about? You'll be back home, monkey. You insist that's where you came from.

I never heard the word. It sounded funny. It offended my belief that all people are educable. It's not commonly used. Try finding it as is--with the prefix-- in online dictionaries. Good luck.

"these oblivious morons have either no self awareness...or no shame."

The frequency of the knee-jerk defense mechanism of projection in your attacks is amazing.

You're a basket case.

Have you had therapy?

If so, I'm afraid that may have worsened your problems.

"I donno, John...because you're a deluded child living in a fantasy world after having misread Swift?"

Projection again. I did not misread Swift, but you, methinks, did, in all probability being staunchly pro-abortion and thinking that Swift was being dead serious when he wrote *A Modest Proposal.*

It was satire.

Swiftie the moonbat sniped (or "snarked," whatever):

"Well, I was going to take on a couple of these pts. in lieu of the morning crossword, then I came across this priceless piece of wingbat hilarity:

That was a good counter-argument, Swiftie.

I guess you think trying to protect an estrablished government from terrorist insurgents and Iranian mercenaries is the same thing as invading a country with assault troop and tank transports and the dropping of MOABs and daisy cutters in a Shock & Awe campaign with a mission to demolish the previous government, which was accomplished.

If you think the former constitutes a "war," then Detroit, Baltimore, and New Orleans are war zones.

"...and motherhumping John McCain's out-of-wedlock black baby (sometimes they do it to each other, don't you know)."

Wha-a-at? I think your cuckoo, Swiftie.

"The party of race-baiting Willie Horton ads..."

But the depraved murderer Willie Horton who was released on a furlough by lefty Dukakis and then murdered again was black.

How is that race-baiting? Are you suggesting that if he was white, they wouldn't bother?

The issue was releasing dangerous murderers on furloughs, black, white, or purple.

Horton happened to be black. Blame him for making his race look bad.

"...was calls the Democratic party racist for voting for a black person..."

If Democratic voters voting for a white person because she's white (and they are) are being racist, then, ergo...

Can you figure it out?

Thanks, Boil...here are some ugly realities for them...

The Great Depression of 2009

By chris rice

A crashing housing market appeared to be something that could be weathered by other growing sectors of the US/Western economies. Then, the inevitable credit dominoes started to fall, after the mortgage delinquencies fell. Next we entered a scary August and September world credit crisis, as huge forms of liquidity, formerly seeming in endless supply, rapidly dropped to nothing. That would be the securitized credit markets.

Rapidly, the emerging losses in securitized credit, from CDOs, MBS and such (packages of loans such as mortgages sold off as securities and derivatives) caused a cascade of falling confidence in our banking sectors. All of a sudden, the credit crisis spread from the mortgage derivatives markets to the commercial paper markets in an almost instantaneous fashion. BNP Paribas, France's largest bank, had to freeze redemptions on two hedge funds that had losses in mortgage derivatives. In about a week from that announcement, the entire European commercial paper market froze, as banks were afraid to roll over each other's commercial paper, not knowing who else had $billions worth of exposure to the huge mortgage derivatives market. This was in August of 2007.

The credit market damage is so severe that the largest banks in the US are at risk of losing much of their capital. Citibank alone said it needs to raise $30 billion in capital. If the 5 largest banks in the US are already in crisis mode, and other major banks in the EU too, and don't forget Canada, England and so on, things look incredibly negative. And the losses have only just begun to pile up. There are many more to come. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke stated that 450,000 mortgages reset each quarter in the US in the coming year. But this is not all about just mortgage resets and the housing market. This is about the spreading damage to other key sectors of the credit markets.

Since July, the West's commercial paper markets (CP) have contracted by hundreds of $billions worth, as banks and investors refused to roll over CP of 270 days or less maturity. The ECB (European Central Bank), and US Fed, and other western central banks had to step in and offer short term money to cover the shortfalls, or else a massive world banking liquidity crisis would have emerged.

As it is, interbank lending is quite bad, and Central banks have not been able to stop either the continued shrinking of the CP markets, nor the ever increasing losses stemming from a collapse of the securitized debt markets. Central banks have had to step in as lenders of last resort to keep the banking and financial system from imploding, and there is little progress on this front to date. The $75 billion SIV bailouts arranged by the US Treasury department is on and off again. The key banks involved may not be able or wish to complete it. Citi, for example has to raise $30 billion in capital to cover the mess that has emerged since July.

Next big credit domino
Now, other huge credit markets are about to fall in turn. The next one is the credit insurance market. Credit insurance is an essential part of any credit market. Lenders can buy credit insurance to help cover the risk of loss when they lend. Credit insurance is a key component rating agencies use to asses credit risk of bonds and such, and assume that if any of the bonds that have credit insurance default, the credit insurers will pay off.

But, the amount of securitized credit loss is so huge at this time, losses on CDOs, MBS, and other securitized credit vehicles, that the viability of credit insurers is now in question. Credit insurers will have to start paying off in the next several months. They will be reporting big losses. That will affect the credit ratings of every security they insure.

This means that all the securities these credit insurers insure will be downgraded by rating agencies – if the credit insurer becomes insolvent.

This crisis has spread to Money Market funds for various reasons. First, many money market funds have a large part of their capital invested in short term commercial paper that provides a slight yield bonus. Since much CP is not rolling over, MMFs are having trouble rolling forward those maturities. Also, MMFs have invested heavily in the securitized debt (mortgage derivatives like MBS and SIVs and CDOs) all of which are in deep trouble.

I have had readers email me stories of being put off from redemptions from many money market funds since August. These are from major name institutions. I have been told of games like telling people to fill out forms and not executing what people wanted to do in their fund. Those stories still come in as I write this. It is very important that you read the disclosures about your MMFs, and know that these are generally not FDIC insured. The same goes for other nations MMFs and their deposit insurance.

How this crisis develops

First, US mortgages default, Jan to June 07. Then, the credit securities back of them collapse in value July 07 to present. Then the banks and others holding these have to take huge losses/writedowns. Then those institutions have to raise capital. Then credit insurers have to pay off (coming in the next several months). Then as they go bankrupt, all the rated securities they insure will be downgraded, as the supposed insurance that was purchased is now worthless, as the insurer is insolvent. Then a new cycle of losses as the newly downgraded credit securities have to be marked down.

Then - here is the rub – banks and such have to stop lending, and you get a system wide freeze of new credit. We are right in the middle of this part. HSBC, for example, has stated they are going to pull back lending in the US, as they have been badly hit in the mortgage markets. Consider this, and see credit contraction in the US increasing across lenders. As I said, Citi stated they need to raise $30 billion of capital.
Main source of credit now totally dead

What's more, the source of most of the credit in the last 5 years, securitized credit, is literally disappearing. As that entire sector becomes discredited, the source of most of the money coming into the world's bubble economies, securitized debt, is drying up.

As banks are forced to raise capital and stop lending, consumers find new credit hard to get or not available at all. The same goes for businesses. You then get system wide credit collapse, and the resultant collapse in economic growth. And if no recovery is made quickly, you get a depression. Not a recession, a depression, due to collapsing economic demand.
New Chinese Foreign investment restrictions

Just consider that many Chinese economic sectors have huge overinvestment, and that China just instituted economic restrictions on new foreign investment in many sectors they consider over invested. That being the case, they would not do well if a large part of their export markets contracted, should the west (EU, US, etc.) have a severe economic contraction.

The Facts Are Undeniable

Congress & the President scrambled to sign in a multi-billion dollar stimilus package. But where does the money come from? The government will borrow the money from China & Saudi Arabia to pay for the rebate, which is projected to cost $117 billion over the next two years, adding to the federal deficit.

The Federal government owes $53.3 trillion in future obligations that it has no ability to pay. The Government Accountability Office has sounded the alarm, but neither the politicians nor the American people are listening.

FORMER Black Republican, Charles Barkley: John Mellencamp right, "Conservative means discriminatory"

When John Mellencamp let loose with a rip on the Bush administration in the middle of an celebrity golf tournament event concert, sending ex Vice President Dan Quayle marching for the exit, he may have shot a few shockwaves through the American Century Championship. But one of the biggest celebrities in the Lake Tahoe field - a man who used to be one of America's biggest Republicans literally - wasn't shedding any tears for Quayle.

"He's right," Charles Barkley said of Mellencamp. "The word conservative means discriminatory practically. It's a form of political discrimination. What do the Republicans run on? Against gay marriage and for a war that makes no sense. A war that was based on faulty intelligence. That's all they ever talk about. That and immigration. Another discriminatory argument for political gain."

AHMED YOUSEF OF HAMAS ENDORSES OBAMA

Barack Obama would like us to believe that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright who ranted anti-American profanities at the National Press Club was not the man he saw from the pews of his church for two decades.

He'd also have us believe that Weatherman terrorist bomber William Ayers, who played host to his first fundraiser and with whom he would later serve on a board, is just a "guy in the neighborhood."

Malley: "They know who I am."
Similarly, Obama would have us believe he doesn't accept the recent endorsement of his candidacy by Ahmed Yousef of the terrorist organization Hamas. John McCain, he said, had "lost his bearings" for asserting, "If Sen. Obama is favored by Hamas, I think people can make judgments accordingly."

We have, and we hope the American people will as well.

Man, fathead, you are really far gone.

First of all, the words were apropos for a ceremony in Israel that celebrated her 60th birthday. It was an assurrance to our beleagured ally that we would not double0deal with nations bent on her destruction.

Second of all, it's not the first time Bush said something like that, as if he was making some new policy for the purpose of some petty, campaign jab at B. Hussein.

He's said, over and over, since 9/11, that "We do not negotiate with terrorists."

He's never invited Ahmenijad to the White House for a reason.

It's been official policy for a long time.

That Barack chose to publicly announce a new policy in dealing with the likes of Ahmenijad--in the middle of a war where Ahmenijad is complicit in the deaths of U.S. troops, no less--is far more arguably treasonous, dolt.

Furthermore, let's say Commander in Chief Bush was taking an indirect dig at upstart Senator B. Hussein.

How is that "treason," fool?

Or are you going to fall into a fit about Valerie Plame again?

"The Bush Administration Has Talked with Plenty of Terrorists, Like Qaddahfi, North Korea, Uzbekistan, etc."

The Commander in Chief and his subordinates have the prerogative to talk to whomever they want to, blockhead. All those talks were deemed conducive, not undermining, to the strategy.

The Commander in Chief also has the prerogative to surrender, but B. "Mr. Stinky" Hussein is being premature and shouldn't be undermining the current commander's strategy in the middle of a high stakes gambit military operation, dummkopf.

So shut your big, fat mouth about what constitutes "Treason"-- like fraternizing with the enemy and saying this about the Commander in Chief during wartime:

"Bush Should be in Jail."

That's disgusting and treasonous, reptile.

Articles like these are the Kool Aid you zombies drink. They're drugs. They've unhinged your mind and you carry them around in your pocket while you bloghop thinking that you're some revolutionary pamphleteer, but you're just dope pushers.

You're all the same. You all do that. You don't provide links to these articles because, for one, they would betray the source, and, two, you like dominating large space of the commentary with long winded "analyses" by someone else--some "authority" with papal infallibility-- to give your side weight and unanswerable "authority" by sheer volume between comments consisting of juvenile ad hominems, the obligatory buzzword (e.g. "RIKO") or catchphrase (e.g. "Bush Lied, Kids Died") du jour, the occassional pompous pronouncement of "the facts," the divining of polls and the nitpicking of percentiles, and heckling "hahahahas" that simply tell everyone outside your Kool Aid cult that you're all just a bunch of sniveling, obnoxious, big-mouthed orcs and trolls programmed and given talking points by the Kool Aid concocting gurus higher up on the food chain, from David Korn all the way up to Noam Chomsky.

You all have your blacklists, with Bush and "The Neocons" and Foxnews at the top, Mr. Sayet not far below them, and orders to jeer and hoot and holler anytime they're referenced by others, and to sneer them out in utter contempt when referenced by yourselves.

You all sound the same, fathead. There's no diversity among liberals, no independent, creative thought in The Hive.

You all say the same things and have the same sacred cows and cult figures and take the exact same position on issues.

You all compulsively project and resort to other psychological defense mechanisms in your arguments.

You're all obnoxious and hateful.

You all like to heckle and ridicule (while avoiding the issue).

And you all hate Jesus Christ.

You all see the world as a photographic negative.

Everything's inverted.

Everything is upside-down.

Everything.

You're like Milton's Lucifer: "The mind is its own place, and can make a hell of heaven, and a heaven of hell."

You're obsessed, like Ahab, with the Moby Dick that is George W. Bush.

You weren't always like that, perhaps, but the Kool Aid made you so.

And here's the third reason why you spray your Kool Aid into blogs:

Because you have a mob mentality, you hope to enlarge your cult by getting others hooked on your drugs, to "see" the world like you do, because you attack as a wolf pack.

None of you can speak for yourselves, it's always "us" and "we."

But it's an ugly world you live in, fathead. You're just unable to realize it and break out because of the insidious effect of the Kool Aid: What is beautiful is ugly, and what is ugly, beautiful; what is Truth is a lie, and your lies are the Truth.

The American liberation force are "terrorists."

The terrorist insurgents "Freedom Fighters."

And so you think yourself anchored, rational, loving, and probably a pleasant guy to be around, when the opposite is obvious.

Who the hell is Chris Rice, and why do you wallpaper him here with a smugness as if he's a world renowned economist and has the last word?

The article isn't even a feasible worstcase scenario. It's just fear-mongering, hysterical BULLSHIT widely circulated that's meant to depress consumer confidence and sow disapproval, dissent, and/or even panic and insurrection against, of course--who else?--the hated Bush Administration.

"HE'S DESTROYED THE ECONOMY!"

Of course, if Barack, Billary, or both get in there, they'll say "It's even worse than we thought" and so raise taxes historically and call it an "emergency stimulus bill" right about the time the slowdown/recession (whatever) peters out and the recovery begins.

And they'll say they saved the economy.

That's exactly what happened and what you weasels narrated from 1993-2000.

These types of "analyses" have made their rounds for seven years + now (starting with that shamelessly absurd "Bush Resume" hatchet job that's meant to be taken seriously, the hyperbolic, weasley-worded, sensationalist hack style still evident even in this latest "serious economic analysis"), and there's always a doomsday flurry of them in election years.

How about all those gigabytes about "The Sixteen Words" and Valerie Plame and "Good Fitzy's" testimony and "THIS IS IT! KARL ROVE IS GOING TO FROG-WALK!" and "BUSH IS GETTING IMPEACHED! THIS IS IT!" and "CHENEY'S GOING TO JAIL FOR SHOOTING A LAWYER IN THE FACE!" and "THIS IS IT! IRAQ IS ABOUT TO BLOW UP IN A CIVIL WAR!" and "BUSH WILL BE BOMBING IRAN IN THE SPRING! BELIEVE IT!" (three years ago) and now: "BUSH HAS SINGLE-HANDEDLY DESTROYED THE GLOBAL ECONOMY!"

Not ONCE have any of you taken stock of your sundry assertions of "fact" and "predictions" that have proven to be dead WRONG.

Not ONCE have you considered the implications of being dead WRONG after insisting "Fact."

Not ONCE have you apologized for all the slander and character assassinations that went into the FALSE assessments and prognoses.

This is the Kool Aid. These are the drugs. And you people have serious emotional and intellectual problems because of them.

Look at the names you yourselves shamelessly choose to be identified by: "Boil," and "Fathead."

Do you honestly think that you're the good guys here?

You guys are brainwashed zombie assholes.

George Bush Demeans the Presidency, Attacks Obama in Israel
By Brent Budowsky
Created May 16 2008 - 8:56am

To understand why the American military is facing such extreme challenges, why our security has been so gravely endangered by failed policies, and why the Republican Party faces a catastrophe in congressional elections, look no further than George Bush taking the low road addressing Israelis.

It is astounding and possibly unprecedented for an American president to make partisan cheap-shot attacks on a domestic opponent while in a foreign land. Only George Bush is so unwise, so partisan, and so low-road to do what Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Bush 41 and Bill Clinton have never done.

Usually the issue is that domestic opponents should refrain from attacking an American president while the president is on foreign soil. Here, the American president lowers himself and demeans his office by attacking an opponent while the president is on foreign soil.

George Bush is not only the man historians will probably call the worst president in history, he is already the worst former president in history, leaving a legacy of catastrophes, crises, failures and trillion-dollar disasters for his successor.

Republicans have now lost three straight major House elections in three hard Republican districts and face a political meltdown of historic magnitude in November. In two recent elections, Republicans tried the old smear tactics using Barack Obama and the Speaker in negative ads, and were creamed by voters.

George Bush has learned nothing from his failures and disasters as commander in chief and Republicans have learned nothing even when they lose a string of elections in districts they should have won by large margins.

The page is turning. The change is coming. The president who will soon leave office with a nation and world grateful he will be gone, does the only thing he knows how to do, and takes the low road again.

So Bush is just a second-rate stooge of some dark, puppeteering forces behind the scenes?

A vast, right-wing conspiracy?

If so, why are you wasting so much time and energy and getting your panties in a bunch over a virtually irrelevant "diseased little minnow" when you should be venting your righteous wrath and hurling harpoons at the *real* big fish, who are...ummm...CEO's of Exxon-Mobil (who look and sound like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons)? Pat Robertson and his 700 Club? Saudi oil shieks? Richard Perle and Wolfie? Dick Cheney?

The war profiteering Industrial Military Complex?

KGB assassins? Angry Cubans? Mafia hitmen? The CIA? The Pentagon? A cuckolded Joe Dimaggio?

Oh, wait, that last set were all the guys huddled and high-fiving on the grassy knoll.

Nevermind.

Come on, Frankie. Why you be like that?

"As we ALL know, fruitcake..."

As in "everyone knows?"

"...most democrats are believers..."

...in a Marxist Jesus who married a prostitute, had a kid, and gave the Roman political authority a hard time because it dissed the majority Jews the way white America disses minorities, so they strung him up in a tree and lynched him?

And a hippie Jesus who pissed off Fathead's great-great-great grandparents in the religious establishment of the Sanhedrin because he gave them a hard time for neglecting the poor and disabled, for stoning homosexuals and cheating wives, and for being hypocrites, so they "murdered" him?

That's liberal Jesus.

"If he keeps on doing this, will there be a backlash against him for beating up on an old man?"

Only if he was a Republican, and the old man a Democrat.

Obviously, you find it easy to hate people who do.

Anyway, that's an irrational leap of faith, Frankie (but in the wrong direction).

Frankie seethed:

"Paul's the evil, little bastard that I hate."

Dude, give the guy a break:

"More overworked than they, scourged more severely, more often imprisoned, many a time face to face with death. Five times the Jews have given me the thirty-nine strokes; three times I have beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I have been shipwrecked, and for 24 hours I was adrift on the open sea. I have been constantly on the road; I have met dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers frok my fellow country-men, dangers from foreigners, dangers in towns, dangers in the country, dangers at sea, dangers from false friends. I have toiled and drudged, I have often gone without sleep; hungry and thirsty; I have often gone fasting; and I have sufferred from cold and exposure."

Does anything tell you more about the way these simple, undeveloped people abuse logic? See, when claims are made, proof is required. There is none for this. When the claims involve weird sky creatures mating with homo sapiens, the proof required becomes even more onerous on the lunatics who make such claims, to put it mildly. Otherwise they need to be committed to a helpful place. If a thousand decent souls came forward NOW and told us they had just seen all this transpire, and were eager to sign affidavits to that effect, after we quit laughing, we'd be searching for the cause of their mass hallucinations.

FJ's desperate to improve his self image by imagining he's associated with a loftier group. Of course, we're still behind the yellow hordes on the IQ tests, so where would that put you? Also, even if it were true, which it isn't ...I believe Suze blew your ass up on that one before...it's an average, moron...which means you, personally, would still be an inferior little piece of shit.

Anonymous said...

Except that my IQ has been measured and I know my place relative to the cultural norms.

You're the one that believes 'inferiority' is derived directly from IQ scores, not me. I tend to think that there are culturally and environmentally dependent, but optimal, harmonies between IQ and physical abilities that "races" tend to center around.

I guess that goes to show that even great 'intellects' like yours can get trapped in the swamps of the ridiculous, eh fatneck?

Anonymous said...

But attempting to overturn those cultural harmonies despite real biological differences is your Sisyphian labor of choice, not mine.

John said...

And a pussy.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like you've hit upon a new, but fitting, definition for a 'modern liberal', John. Unfortunately it's all been said before.

...and there's no escaping asses like fats, or as I like to refer to them, fat-asses like fats. As Plato said in "Republic"...

When a democracy which is thirsting for freedom has evil cup-bearers presiding over the feast, and has drunk too deeply of the strong wine of freedom, then, unless her rulers are very amenable and give a plentiful draught, she calls them to account and punishes them, and says that they are cursed oligarchs.

Yes, he replied, a very common occurrence.

Yes, I said; and loyal citizens are insultingly termed by her slaves who hug their chains and men of naught; she would have subjects who are like rulers, and rulers who are like subjects: these are men after her own heart, whom she praises and honours both in private and public. Now, in such a State, can liberty have any limit?

Certainly not.

By degrees the anarchy finds a way into private houses, and ends by getting among the animals and infecting them.

How do you mean?

I mean that the father grows accustomed to descend to the level of his sons and to fear them, and the son is on a level with his father, he having no respect or reverence for either of his parents; and this is his freedom, and the metic (foreigner) is equal with the citizen and the citizen with the metic, and the stranger is quite as good as either.

Yes, he said, that is the way.

And these are not the only evils, I said--there are several lesser ones: In such a state of society the master fears and flatters his scholars, and the scholars despise their masters and tutors; young and old are all alike; and the young man is on a level with the old, and is ready to compete with him in word or deed; and old men condescend to the young and are full of pleasantry and gaiety; they are loth to be thought morose and authoritative, and therefore they adopt the manners of the young.

Quite true, he said.

The last extreme of popular liberty is when the slave bought with money, whether male or female, is just as free as his or her purchaser; nor must I forget to tell of the liberty and equality of the two sexes in relation to each other.

Why not, as Aeschylus says, utter the word which rises to our lips?

That is what I am doing, I replied; and I must add that no one who does not know would believe, how much greater is the liberty which the animals who are under the dominion of man have in a democracy than in any other State: for truly, the she-dogs, as the proverb says, are as good as their she-mistresses, and the horses and asses have a way of marching along with all the rights and dignities of freemen; and they will run at any body who comes in their way if he does not leave the road clear for them: and all things are just ready to burst with liberty.

When I take a country walk, he said, I often experience what you describe. You and I have dreamed the same thing.

And above all, I said, and as the result of all, see how sensitive the citizens become; they chafe impatiently at the least touch of authority, and at length, as you know, they cease to care even for the laws, written or unwritten; they will have no one over them.

Yes, he said, I know it too well.

Such, my friend, I said, is the fair and glorious beginning out of which springs tyranny.

Glorious indeed, he said.

Oh my! You just know FJ has been cornered when he starts spouting the ancients of whom he has no inkling. Poor, sad old man....

John said...

Twice, now, FJ, you have been accused of ignorance on the classics.

The reson why they accuse of that--in all confidence-- is because of the Kool Aid that their gurus of liberal academia gave them to drink.

And they drank it in deep draughts.

They've been taught to believe that the traditional understanding of the classics has all been a lie and to forget everything they've been told before. Then they're presented with a new way of understanding them, the transmogrified, post-modern Frankenstein that has been deconstructed and re-assembled to "reveal" the racist, chauvinist, war-mongering, imperialist, and slave-holding, and--most importantly--obsolete values at the heart of them.

That's what courses in the classics in liberal academia teach about them, and these zombies obviously paid rapt attention and swallowed it all hook, line, and sinker.

When they accuse you of ignorance, it's ignorance of that "True" understanding that they--the "privileged elite"-- have of them.

Their disciples are now tenured professors who in turn have made disciples of the orcs and trolls here, if not directly, then by osmosis.

WEB DuBois, "The Souls of Black Folk" - "I sit with Shakespeare and he winces not. From out the caves of evening that swing between the strong- limbed earth and the tracery of the stars, I summon Aristotle and Aurelius and what soul I will, and they come all gra- ciously with no scorn nor condescension. So, wed with Truth, I dwell above the Veil. Is this the life you grudge us, O knightly America? Is this the life you long to change into the dull red hideousness of Georgia? Tell it to Orville and Wilbur, buddy...Daedelus inspired and reinforced the fears of generations of cowardly "conservatives" while at the same time firing the imaginations of brave and progressive adventurers...which is why we soar while you plod...and why even backward cowards can fly today.

Anonymous said...

Although your story is amusing, it's not representative of anything approaching reality. Orville and Wilbur didn't blindly throw themselves off any cliffs. They built a wind tunnel instead and slowly and deliberately learned the theoretical "language" of flight and avoided committing to untried and unwise "leaps of faith". (and the operative word is "faith", not knowledge). Which makes me wonder why you denigrate faith so much)...

Yes, there were many progressives of your ilk. The ruins of their failed civilizations serve as constant reminders to all that "progress for the sake of progress" is suicidal, the world over.

Any good engineer will tell you that 'better' is the enemy of 'good enough'. There's a reason why money is lent to "entrepeneurs" and "risky ventures" at such high rates... 99 out of a hundred will FAIL.

So stop making stupid statements like the world owes some kind of "debt" to 'forward' movement. There are progressives, and there are reckless fools heading for a wreck... and only the ones that live to reproduce earn title to the progressive label.

btw - Your homo and feminist friends aren't reproducing very effectively... so things aren't looking very good for your earning a "truly" progressive label. Better luck in your next life.

And what HAS happened to the birth rate in Europe? Sounds like they're progressing right into the dustbin of history. ;-)

And just so you know, your argument is like one of Plato's trying to figure out whether the virtue of courage is "superior" to the virtue of temperance. The big difference between whether an act is judged courageous or temperate; wreckless or cowardly, lies in the outcome... and believe me when I say that you are no Laocoon.

Duh...now, we're not liberals. We're reckless, wild eyed radicals eager to jump off cliffs without looking below!!! What a peabrain...they can't argue agains a real situation so they make up something to fight against and pretend it's our position. We're talking about the people who have made all the progress in the world, dumbass...not the cliff jumpers. It certainly wasn't morons like you who mindlessly cling to whatever you learned when you were too stupid to have any judgment. You fools are still jumping off the same cliffs you've always jumped off. You jump off them again and again til we finally pull you away...you're fighting science now like you always have...evolution, stem cells, climate change...see, these are all well researched, seriously thought out moves, you fool, and you're resisting them just like you did with Copernicus and Galileo and everone else. What you're telling me is that you really are a progressive and you argue on behalf of careful progress at the same time you cling to your backward monkey philosophy. You morons don't know what you are.

But, anyway, John, congratulations on coming over to our side. Oh, I guess you just couldn't argue your position so you pretended our position was your position and defended that instead...smoooooth move, buddy.

John said...

Yeah, right, that's what I did (whatever).

You might want to stop by my place again, Blossom, if you want to see yourself getting spanked with your pants and panties down to your ankles.

I think he meant the other John, John. That was funny, Fats...you actually made the poor guy defend progressivism in order to debate...now, that is a spanking...bravo.
Oh, I've seen his act for quite a while...don't expect him to understand what he did.

So you really think that courage IS a greater virtue than temperance?

What a maroon! Next thing you'll be arguing that justice is a greater virtue than wisdom.

I hate to tell you this girls, but I've seen bricks that had more on the ball than you.

And who's fighting science? I've done more science than all the apes in your whole family tree. Got much straw for arguments? LOL!

Plato, "Laches"

SOCRATES: And now let me see whether you agree with Laches and myself as to a third point.

NICIAS: What is that?

SOCRATES: I will tell you. He and I have a notion that there is not one knowledge or science of the past, another of the present, a third of what is likely to be best and what will be best in the future; but that of all three there is one science only: for example, there is one science of medicine which is concerned with the inspection of health equally in all times, present, past, and future; and one science of husbandry in like manner, which is concerned with the productions of the earth in all times. As to the art of the general, you yourselves will be my witnesses that he has an excellent foreknowledge of the future, and that he claims to be the master and not the servant of the soothsayer, because he knows better what is happening or is likely to happen in war: and accordingly the law places the soothsayer under the general, and not the general under the soothsayer. Am I not correct in saying so, Laches?

LACHES: Quite correct.

SOCRATES: And do you, Nicias, also acknowledge that the same science has understanding of the same things, whether future, present, or past?

NICIAS: Yes, indeed Socrates; that is my opinion.

SOCRATES: And courage, my friend, is, as you say, a knowledge of the fearful and of the hopeful?

NICIAS: Yes.

SOCRATES: And the fearful, and the hopeful, are admitted to be future goods and future evils?

NICIAS: True.

SOCRATES: And the same science has to do with the same things in the future or at any time?

NICIAS: That is true.

SOCRATES: Then courage is not the science which is concerned with the fearful and hopeful, for they are future only; courage, like the other sciences, is concerned not only with good and evil of the future, but of the present and past, and of any time?

NICIAS: That, as I suppose, is true.

SOCRATES: Then the answer which you have given, Nicias, includes only a third part of courage; but our question extended to the whole nature of courage: and according to your view, that is, according to your present view, courage is not only the knowledge of the hopeful and the fearful, but seems to include nearly every good and evil without reference to time. What do you say to that alteration in your statement?

NICIAS: I agree, Socrates.

...and so forgive me if I continue to cling to my backward monkey philosophy while I watch you neo-neanderthals commit Hari Kari.

You monkeys think you're practicing science? You don't even know what science is!

Damn, that chick's ass sure is pretty in pink, ain't it John! She sure enjoys a spanking, too.

Keep up the good work, boys. Those libby lemmings will drown themselves soon enough... just point them to the next cliff!

Huh? Boy, the only hard part about debating these morons is telling them a hundred times what you actually said...well, it would be if you felt like bothering.

And who's fighting science? I've done more science than all the apes in your whole family tree. Got much straw for arguments? LOL!

Yeah, I'm sure...you guys are known for it...you're living in the pre-Darwinian 19th C. and making weird noises to a bronze age god. Come to think of it, you're a joke. Why am I talking to you again?

Are you sure, Alice?

Btw, two CANNOT play at this game, because the Left doesn't play by the same rules that the Right plays by (i.e. Free Speech).

When things start getting out of hand (e.g. they start losing arguments and control of the message), they always come out and make some spiel about "editorial prerogative" and/or "quality control" and/or suddenly get sqeamish about "abuse" and they begin to censor, delete, and/or ban
like the fascists they truly are.
