"Gaza erupted in celebration last week to the news that a Palestinian had murdered Jewish religious students in Jerusalem. And almost daily terrorists send rockets from Gaza into nearby Israeli cities, hoping to kill civilians and provoke Israeli counter-responses -- and perhaps start another Middle East war." -- Victor Davis Hanson

The Right Thinker reads this and says "my, god, the mass murder of innocent students, what a horrible crime."

The leftist sees the same story and, having been taught in kindergarten that "everybody's nice" (therefore every child must be invited to the kindergartener's party) says the Jews MUST have done something to make this nice people do it.

Then we see the terrorists brethren nothing less than dancing in the streets over cold blooded mass murder of innocent students and the Right Thinker recognizes there's a sickness in the Arab world. The Modern Liberal looks, knows how sick it is and has no choice but to say those JEWS must be really horrible for such a nice community to be dancing over their deaths. Any other conclusion would be bigotry.

And the leftist is not a bigot. So, he has no choice but to hate the Jews for making nice terrorists kill them.

There are those who are smart enough, and grown up enough, to treat complex political issues with the nuance and subtlety that they deserve. And then there is Evan, who can only understand bludgeoning everything to death with a sledgehammer.

Keep dancing, monkey.

Poor psycho trying to understand why American Jews overwhelmingly vote liberal even though liberals "hate the Jews."

Yep. When the going gets tough, the Left's answer is to either appease or surrender. The toughest response to a direct attack on the USA that they ever mustered was to fire a couple of $1 milliion missiles into an empty and deserted Afghan hut at 3 am. How nuanced and subtle!

Keep dancing monkey? It that the kind of subtlety you're referring to? Or maybe Hillary Clinton saying Americans in congress are like "plantation" owners? Or, maybe Democrat Dick Durbin calling our troops "Nazis" or Ward Churchill calling the victims of 9/11 "little Eichmanns?" Or, maybe Keith Ellison, the Muslim Democrat (actually one of two now elected by the left) who called our President "Hitler?"

Oh, right, "subtlety" to explain the leftists excuse for hating Jews...not for their excuse for hating fellow Americans.

Evan Sayet said...

Hey, lots of Jews thought they'd do well to support Hitler because by being "good Germans" they'd be left alone. Lots of American Jews (especially the "secular" who aren't Jewish at all in belief) think that if they're "good leftists" then the leftists won't march THEM into the ovens. Same mistake, different decade.

Often irrational people (especially when hiding under the cloak of anonymity) engage in ad hominem vitriol and/or profanity to bolster an otherwise faulty arguement. In this case, "evan is a boil..." wins the blue ribbon on this thread! Monkey? You must know that this simian reference is islamic code for Jew? This bit of bigotry is conveniently borrowed from that bastion of reason and tolerance: the Koran! Yes folks, welcome to the new and worsened American Left. "Evan is a boil..." is but a miniscule representation of what is in store for America, should these psychotic libertines wrest power from the masses! They have devolved to a level where they indescriminately co-opt primitive, perjorative terminology--borrowed from the most bigoted, autocratic, rigid, intolerant "religion" presently flourishing (albeit by force) on the planet! Monkey? How childish! Why not call Evan "doo doo head" or "poopie pants" or "booger nose" or something equally immature? Lord knows your debate ability is at the level of a kindergartener!

The utopian future that the cunning marxist elitists envisioned for America has morphed into a nightmarish, out-of-control monstrosity. Like Dr. Frankenstein, the marxists have lost control of their experiment. Their carefully laid plans have gone horribly awry. The monster is now calling the shots and has
murdered the master! The method by which the American masses were inculcated (the public school system) has been too successful! The indoctrinated masses, intentionally deprived of the ability to reason, no longer heed the orders of their masters--why should they? Any synaptic firing is considered viable thought. No standards are ever applied to any facet of their lives--why should they, that would be descrimination! They mentate (barely), deficate (a lot), masticate (too much, too fat), all of which they consider to be great achievements--after all the master's minnions taught them to have high levels of self-esteem! But, when you ask them to descriminate, they can't--not even to save their own lives! Because, of course, everything is equal: good is bad; bad is good; right is wrong; wrong is right; terrorists are freedom fighters; freedom fighters are terrorists; islamic misogyny is protection of women; christian protection of women is misogyny. Get it? When you relentlessly attack commen sense and conventional wisdom (with the help of a complicit and venal media), you create a schizophrenic society incapable of rational thought. We, as a society, have become morally catatonic. We know the truth: right is right, wrong is wrong. Yet we have become zombies, unable to make descriminating decisions that would ensure our survival! Well...not all us.

Of course, Keith Ellison (the scary Muslim) never called our President any such thing. Nor did Dick Durbin call troops Nazis. But why should facts get in the way of such a brilliant argument? Why not continue to distort what "The Left" does? I mean, you kind make it more fun for all of us when you're demonstrably full of shit.

Once again, you have an entire argument that is composed of nothing but straw men. Keep on knocking them down, Dancing Monkey, you're doin' a heckuva job.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Nobody cares! That's why we're posting on Evan's blog! We're attempting to discuss matters that Evan has the cojones to put in print! NOBODY CARES WHAT A POSTER HAS TO SAY ON HIS OWN BLOG...HELLO! NRCC treasurer 'deceived and betrayed' committee to funnel funds to personal accounts
The National Republican Congressional Committee, already lagging behind its Democratic counterpart in fundraising this year, has nearly $1 million less in the bank than it thought because of an alleged embezzlement scheme from its former treasurer.

The FBI began an investigation in February to determine how much former treasurer Christopher J. Ward, who previously did work for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, embezzled from the NRCC. On Thursday the committee released more details on the investigation, indicating he may have moved as much as $1 million from campaigns he ran into his own account.

"The evidence we have today indicated we have been deceived and betrayed for a number of years by a highly respected and trusted individual," said Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), the NRCC chairman.

ANALYSIS-Iran's rise owes much to Bush's Iraq, Afghan wars
TEHRAN, March 11 (Reuters) - Five years on, Iran can thank the United States for unwittingly aiding its drive for regional power by ousting Saddam Hussein, one of Tehran's deadliest foes.

The U.S. military had already defeated Afghanistan's Taliban after the Sept. 11 attacks on U.S. cities in 2001 -- with the unintended consequence of wiping out another of Iran's enemies and tilting the local balance of forces in Tehran's favour.

"The removal of these two regimes without powerful successor states benefited Iran greatly...and opened elbow room for Iran to spread its influence," said Vali Nasr, senior fellow at the Washington-based Council on Foreign Relations.

With each passing week, anguish and atrocity are deepening in Somalia, the third "regime change" target of George Bush's Terror War. Thousands of innocent people have been killed and a million have been driven from their homes by an Ethiopian invasion backed, funded and armed by the Bush Administration, which has also intervened directly with air strikes, naval shelling, renditions of fleeing refugees (including U.S. citizens) to Ethiopia's notorious prisons and, on at least one occasion, with a U.S. death squad sent in after an airstrike with orders to "kill anyone left alive."

The difference is that Bear Stearns is not a commercial bank, and is therefore not eligible for the protections those banks received 75 years ago when Franklin D. Roosevelt halted bank runs with government guarantees. Bear was, instead, emblematic of a financial system that grew up over the last two decades, one that largely marginalized traditional banking and that enabled lenders to evade much of the regulatory framework that had also begun during the Roosevelt administration."

You think the context improves it? You say, flat-out, that disabled people (all 20 of them, which presumably is made up entirely of Iraq War veterans, since there's damn sure at least 20 of those in chairs) are given special treatment because they whined about it. Whined about parking spots and, I don't know, elevators in buildings I guess. Those little buttons that help someone who is disabled open a door. This is your premise - that business interests are more important than our society making life livable for those who don't enjoy the full range of motion that (I assume) you do. This is the essence of the mindless conservative - they are more than happy to cheer on a war that they don't have the guts to fight themselves, and then when the mangled, broken bodies of the veterans come back, they tell them how much of a drain on society they are, demanding their special handicapped access to everything. Leave out all of the non-veterans who are handicapped (and who you also, clearly, have no time for - I hope you never have a handicapped child or grandchild, since you're obviously a narcissist and probably couldn't deal with it), just think about this issue in terms of things you understand, those who fight and deserve more from society than being told they're "whiners".

We've become divided into victim groups that use their status as victims to impose the responsibility for allieviating their challenges onto the rest of society without regard for costs, fairness, and ultimately to their own detriment. I stand by that.

Even Mother Theresa couldn't overcome the handicap regulations in Chicago a few years back in order to open a shelter there. The handicap regulations effectively prevented anyone from receiving assistance because the building she had obtained couldn't be modified to accomodate them without making the entire project financially unworkable.

The regulators wouldn't waive the requirements, so no one received any assistance and the good nun moved on to more accomodating pastures. The regulations didn't help the handicapped one iota in this case; but they most certainly did injure the down and out that were effectively prevented from receiving the aid that was offered.

Of course understanding this is probably impossible for someone as self-indulgent and snarky as you seem to be. It would actually require you to THINK about the issue instead of hurling unhinged invective masquerading as insight.

Trying to understand these pathological creatures is impossible without the services of a good lobotomist I'm afraid. They do provide a sterling example of what passes for reasoned discourse on the Left however. Pathetic actually.

This is one of the most myopic things I've ever read, and modern conservatism is ruled almost entirely by myopia. Congratulations.

Handicapped people ask for nothing more than to have access to the same places, the same services, the same businesses as able-bodied people do. Since companies won't do this on their own, they are made to do so by regulation. Does it cost them a bit more? Obviously. It is the right thing for us, as a society, to do, to impose this on businesses? Just as obviously, yes. If you had a disabled child, a disabled relative, perhaps that would wake you up from your narcissistic stupor. What kind of person cheerleads a war and then says that those who come back with disabilities are cashing in on their victimhood? Truly despicable.

Scottie said...

The Left, not the handicapped, are asking society to bear these additional costs. It seems they have an inexhaustable supply of "good ideas" that are "obviously right" that they are willing to impose upon society at gunpoint.

Notwithstanding your ad hominem attacks, I do have compassion for the disabled. But we each have our burdens. It is not the government's place to ameleorate everybody's problems. If it were, you could perhaps qualify for a subsidy to increase your intelligence rather than having to depend so entirely on knee-jerk emotionalism.

The ADA is among the worst pieces of legislation ever produced. It has mandated, among other things, a requirement for a handicapped restroom on the advanced mountain hiking course at Yellowstone and braille keypads on drive-up teller windows, both of which are laughable on their face.

Fear of the onerous requirements imposed by this particular law has resulted in fewer rather than more handicapped people finding gainful employment. That unfortunate result is a fact, your blustering to the contrary notwithstanding.

Anonymous said...

Your argument suffers from the premise that if not for government intervention, the handicapped would not be accomodated. That you have greater faith in government than your fellow man is mind boggling given the general ineptitude of the government.

Are you saying that you personally wouldn't help the handicapped unless you were forced to by law? Or are you inferring somehow that you are superior to everybody else and your altruism must be forced from those you consider inferior? Seems like a narcissitic postion to me.

Scottie said...

Apparently there are either two anonymous posters or someone has received a brain transplant!

Anonymous said...

I will certainly agree that sometimes a well meaning law goes too far in certain specifics...this is a problem with errors and misconceptions in its writing. That in no way invalidates the great benefits of that law and the flaws should be addressed by some simple corrections. Instead, typically, the right nitpicks some of this out and uses it as a dishonest debating point in trying to discredit the whole idea behind it. This is a perfect example. OSHA for instance, overreaches in some areas. On the whole, however, it has done enormous good. The motivation behind this is usually found in calculated propaganda by some sociopathic corporate alliance which believes it will be more expensive for them if they can't kill and/or maim their employees without much consequence. If you can't acknowledge the horrors of too little regulation after a few years of this monstrous corporate owned regime, you've got your head up your simple asses as usual...and are nothing but gullible tools of those interests.

More comedy...see, simpleton, if these problems are being solved by the magic efforts of our fellow men, the a given issue -- like access for the handicapped -- does not arise in the first place...and it's only "conservative" government that is typically massively inept...that's why Hoover and Katrina are synonymous with right wing government...when run by competent and serious men, government is competent and serious; when run by fools like you and yours, it is a disaster. Soooo, heckuva job, Booshie.

Anonymous said...

At any rate, you might as well quit whining. As some high level GOP said yesterday, the GOP brand has been ruined. All these threadbared talking points and self serving lies which you sold so successfully for a few years have been seen through by the public and are just the source of eye rolling and dismissal now. So stow the tired, destructive crap, crawl back in your spider holes and wait a generation. I'm sure you'll be able to come out like a periodic disease and spread it around again, then.

You believe that the current administration which has kept us safe for seven years is inferior to the previous administration that fecklessly emboldened our enemies.

You believe that government is the solution, whereas I believe government is the problem.

You believe that the federal government failed the victims of Katrina, I believe those folks were victimized by their incompetent local democratically elected officials.

Where you would concentrate power in the elite ruling class, I would prefer to retain as much freedom as possible.

Where I would help my fellow man, you would compel others to do so on your behalf.

Speaking of those crybaby handicapped: Michael Zweig | The War and the Working Class
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/031608D.shtml
In The Nation, Michael Zweig says, "The government treats its soldiers the way most corporations treat their workforce - as an invisible, disrespected, disposable means to an end that is contrary to workers' interests. Members of the armed forces come mainly and disproportionately from the working class and from small-town and rural America, where opportunities are hard to come by. The 'economic draft' operates, in effect, to recruit young people from these communities as they sign up to gain job skills, experience and educational opportunities absent from their civilian lives."

"Handicapped people ask for nothing more than to have access to the same places, the same services, the same businesses as able-bodied people do."

This despite the fact that the costs this will impose on every single business and public building will be astronomical. It will be imposed even on buildings and businesses that will never be visited by a person in a wheelchair. It will be imposed at no cost to those needing these amenities. It will be mandated by fiat by a government, but the cost will be absorbed by individual businesses.

I think this makes the lefties feel good that they have "done something" about the problem, but no reckoning of the costs is ever contemplated or acknowledged. And the costs of the ADA to every public space outweigh the benefit to the few in need of them.

Sometimes life isn't fair. Trying to impose fairness paradoxically only shifts that unfairness from one party to another.

Before leaving, my friend had a bet with me that "Sybil" would have posted at least 5 consecutive rants before we returned; and he was spot on! Isn't there a name for this mental malady? Oh yes...TOURETTE'S SYNDROME. Truly, it's amazing how quickly the invective degenerates to vulgar profanity. Have you ever wondered how generous these folk are without government intervention? On their own, without being forced or forcing others, do they VOLUNTARILY help others in need? I do. Do they MONETARILY (not through taxation) help others in need? I do. Are they VOLUNTARILY CHARITABLE at home and in their communities? I am. I need no laws to force me to be helpful. I am.
[Semi-pregnant pause…hold your breath…5,4,3,2,1...EXPLOSIVE, ANGRY, SMARMY REJOINDER; insert profanity of choice!]

Perhaps you've overlooked that the most common government representative you interact with carries a sidearm as a matter of course; the policeman. All other members of the government can summon these minions to enforce their will; hence you are compelled at gunpoint should you fail to comply.

I'll close with the observation that one should never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. Given your assinine behavior, invective, and willingness to use force to accomplish your idea of fairness, I shudder to think what a few million of your ilk are capable of; like maybe handing the keys to the country over to the likes of an Obama(ssiah).

Iraq War's Cost: Loss of US Power, Prestige and Influence
By Warren P. Strobel
McClatchy Newspapers

Saturday 15 March 2008

Washington - It was a decision that only President Bush had the power to make: At about 9 a.m. on March 19, 2003, in the Situation Room in the basement of the West Wing of the White House, he gave the "execute order" to begin Operation Iraqi Freedom, the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

Now, five years later, the consequences of that act will soon be beyond Bush's grasp. In 10 months, they'll land on the desk of his successor.

Thanks in part to the Iraq war, the next U.S. president - Republican or Democrat, black or white, man or woman - will take office with America's power, prestige and popularity in decline, according to bipartisan reports, polls and foreign observers.

He's just killed the Republican brand."

This one is especially typical of the conservative mind...now donors are afraid to give to them for fear their money will be stolen!!!!

Republicans on Capitol Hill were suffering a run of bad news that could hold dire implications for the campaign season.

It started with the loss last weekend of the seat held for two decades by former House speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). It got worse when Republicans lost potentially strong challengers to Democratic senators in South Dakota and New Jersey, and failed to field anyone to oppose the reelection bid of Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.).

The latest blow came with the revelation that the former treasurer of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) had allegedly diverted hundreds of thousands of dollars -- and possibly as much as $1 million -- from the organization's depleted coffers to his own bank accounts.

If Republicans needed any more evidence of how difficult this fall may be, the past week had it all, analysts said. The Illinois race demonstrated new levels of disaffection, the party's efforts to go on offense elsewhere were thwarted by recruiting failures, and the NRCC scandal will divert campaign resources and could frighten off badly needed contributors, they said.

Oakton, Va. - Few dare to say it, but it's time we acknowledged a sad truth about American politics: liberalism is dead – and it has been for 40 years.

Of course, America's conservative talk-show hosts can't admit this without facing the embarrassing fact that they have been beating a dead horse all this time. One can imagine their fervent prayer: "Dear God, we don't have Soviet Communists anymore. Please keep a few liberals for us to kick around."

As a political ideology, liberalism has been so discredited that few people even dare to call themselves liberal.

A half-century ago, the opposite was true: liberalism was the dominant, almost exclusive force in American politics.

How did this reversal happen?

As an intellectual force, political liberalism went out of office with Lyndon Johnson. Public disenchantment with LBJ's Great Society programs during the Vietnam era, muddling it together with permissive sex, drugs, and rock "n" roll, was liberalism's death knell.

America has tilted right ever since. It twice elected Republican Richard Nixon, who was then succeeded by a Midwest conservative, Gerald Ford. Though saddled with scandals, he nearly beat Democrat Jimmy Carter in 1976. But President Carter was no liberal. Recall that Ted Kennedy tried – and failed – to dethrone him in 1980.

Then, two terms of Ronald Reagan plus another term of George H.W. Bush gave Americans what they wanted: 12 years of conservatism. Mr. Bush was denied a second term mostly because Ross Perot siphoned off his votes. Without Perot, there would have been no Clinton ascendancy.

But even President Clinton's two terms did little to halt liberalism's demise. Indeed, he was complicitous in the conservative effort to peel away the last layers of the New Deal and the Great Society.

In 2000, the Supreme Court anointed right-wing Republican George W. Bush as president. His two terms have driven a stake through liberalism's heart.

Anonymous said...

Gee, it turns out that the DNC's leading contender for president is an America-hating white-bashing racist. Imagine that... is anybody surprised?

Anonymous said...

I see you left out the end of that column. I'll go ahead and finish it for you.

Any reported wave of liberalism simply cannot buck the conservative tide. Regardless of who is elected president in 2008, there seems to be little enthusiasm for liberalism.

More important, there is little or no money to fund new social programs. Costs for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are running into the trillions of dollars. Presidents often raise taxes to pay for war. Bush didn't (he accelerated tax cuts in 2003), which has made the fiscal cupboard even barer. The war on terror called for a tax increase, a kind of Osama bin Laden tithe. But that had no support.

Even if a Democratic president were to push through a liberal national health insurance program, it could hardly be called forward-looking. Such an enactment would merely be catching up with the rest of the civilized world.

There is, however, something deeply troubling in the new conservative triumphalism. It is an uncritical, unthinking damnation of anything liberal. When I suggest to conservative friends that if they really loathe liberalism, they should forfeit their access to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, I am met with stony silence. There's no denying that tens of millions of conservative Americans live better lives because of the liberal initiatives of an earlier generation.

Liberalism may indeed be a political spent force, but we should fervently hope that the human decency and concern for our fellow man that spawned programs such as food stamps, Head Start, Aid for Dependent Children, and the Peace Corps, still speaks to the inherent and unselfish goodness that used to be America.

Today, it remains indisputable that the political climate that allows an African American and a woman to viably seek the presidency is yet another testimony to a political process driven by the best of the previous centuries' liberal traditions. Liberalism may be a dead ideology, but like benefactors of a wealthy relative's estate, Americans are still living on its inheritance.

When I was a young reporter covering the House of Representatives in 1968, a very decent California congressman, a liberal named Jeff Cohelan, sat me down in his office late one evening and gave me a tutorial on American politics. "Young man," he asked, "Do you know what liberalism is?" I had no ready answer. "The essence of true liberalism," he said, "is tolerance." And he repeated it, "tolerance."

It will be especially tragic this election year, as American conservatives renew their dance on the grave of liberalism, if they also revel in an illiberal intolerance that increasingly grips this country.

Anonymous said...

That illiberal intolerance... he's speaking to YOU, troll. LOL!

In 2000, the Supreme Court anointed right-wing Republican George W. Bush as president. His two terms have driven a stake through liberalism's heart.

Liberal provides his quote from a REPUBLICAN!

"It's no mystery," said Rep. Thomas M. Davis III (R-Va.). He's just killed the Republican brand."

Anonymous said...

Of course, Nixon gave us some of the most massive liberal programs we've ever had. Conservatism is now totally discredited, however, liberalism currently has no leadership and will wallow about until it finds one. This may be a blessing since it's obvious that we need a whole new alignment of interests and two new parties would be very nice...the old ones are moribund, corrupt and destructive.

Anonymous said...

Gee, it turns out that the GOP's leading candidate...who they all hate, themselves...is a Catholic hating, war mongering, half liberal hybrid who is so near senility that he'll probably croak before the election. I'd be focusing heavily on the VP selection, if I was them. Maybe find someone SANE and under ninety.

Anonymous said...

How idiotic and ignorant of history and society can you be to say liberalism is dead? These things are cyclical. Liberalism is really merely another name for reform. It arises when the need for reform is great -- as after the Crash or during the civil rights/antiwar movement. Then it "dies" for a while until the need for a new round of progress appears. Never has the conservative mess been greater than it is now or the need for reform greater, so a new round of liberalism is already at hand...lacking only organization and decent leadership. These usually appear from unexpected quarters. Whatever the case, conservatism has again discredited itself as the faux ideology of the low and the mediocre.

Forget Eliot Spitzer, the entire Democrat Party is melting down before the nation’s very eyes.

Last week, America was both introduced to the electoral cure for white guilt in the form of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and reminded by Geraldine Ferraro why Walter Mondale lost 49 states.

The Democrat Party and its two competing Presidential candidates have been hoist by their own petard of race -- and gender-identity politics.

Feminist icon Ferraro, a Hillary Clinton-backer, was branded a racist by the Obama campaign for curious statements about the “concept” of Barack Obama. Ferraro essentially argued that if Barack Obama were different, he wouldn’t be the same.

In defending herself against the Obama-mainstream media complex’s backlash, Ferraro conceded on Good Morning America that had her name been Gerard Ferraro (presumably implying that had she been a man) in 1984, she would not have been selected as her party’s ill-fated Vice Presidential nominee that year. So while Ferraro identified race as that which only distinguishes Obama, she at least volunteered that it was solely gender that distinguished her.

Meanwhile, back at the mothership, while Clinton was offering pro-forma denunciation of her comrade-in-arms, team Hillary finally got around to pushing out their special edition “Best of Rev. Jeremiah Wright” DVD collection of selected anti-American ravings and black helicopter conspiracy theories from the good reverend, Obama’s long-time spiritual advisor.

If you think George W. Bush controls the media -- yes, that President, the one with the 70% disapproval rating; if you think Israel is a state-sponsor of terrorism; if you think black Republicans are sell-outs; and if you think that America is a racist country that should be damned by God, then you are just going to get the biggest kick out of Rev. Wright’s gyration-filled, pulpit pontifications.

It turns out that Michelle Obama is not the only one who saw no reason to be proud of America prior to her husband’s political ascension.

The other Obama attempted to square Wright’s affinity for hateful demagoguery with the post-racial “One America” vision of his campaign offering to ABC News the rationalization that Wright “is like an old uncle who says things I don’t always agree with.”

You know what the difference is between Louis Farrakhan, who Obama was quick to categorically repudiate, and good ole Uncle Jeremiah Wright? Louis Farrakhan plays the violin.

Both Democrat campaigns have now been reduced from pandering on the basis of race and gender to polarizing on those bases in order to make their best case to Democrat superdelegates that their opponent is unelectable in the fall against McCain.

Before this is over, they will be both be right.

McCain Doesn't Know Shia From Shinola

On his "Gee, don't I look like a Commander-in-Chief" tour in Iraq, presumptive GOP nominee Sen. John McCain said something that made him look anything but. He showed that he's either a liar, or woefully misinformed, or getting senile. He warned to reporters that Iran is sponsoring al Qaeda terrorists in their fight against the U.S. When pressed, the crusty old Repug added that it was "common knowledge and has been reported in the media that al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran, that's well known. And it's unfortunate." As anyone with an ounce of Middle-east/Arab history knows, Iran is a Shiite country and al Qaeda is Sunni. And the two hate each other. So, his trusty war-mongering sidekick Sen. Joe Lieberman, at his side, leaned in, whispered this sweet nothing into his ear, and McCain said whoops...I made a boo-boo. "I'm sorry...the Iranians are training extremists, not al Qaeda," he said.

So what's the real shocker here, that McCain was trying to lie to Americans about who we're really fighting over there? Duh! He, Lieberman and Bush have been doing that for years. That McCain was trying to distort the truth should come as a surprise to no one. His entire campaign is built on the Iraq war and his support of the surge. And his main strategy is fear; keeping Americans afraid so that support for this debacle continues. The other day he said "if we pull out the troops, al Qaeda wins." The Repug neocons have been morphing Iraq and Iran into al Qaeda since the 9-11 attacks.

But what this should demonstrate to voters is that McCain's integrity is lacking. That he's a liar. or, if we giove him the benefit of the doubt and he's not intentionally deceiving Americans, then his understanding of of one of the most complexes ethnic struggles in history, in a violent part of the world, renders him unprepared to be president.

So, you don't think the dems have a chance against the senile guy?

Daily Show is amazed that a politician treats Americans as adults David Edwards and Muriel Kane
Published: Wednesday March 19, 2008

The Daily Show brought its own perspective to Barack Obama's speech about his relationship to his pastor and the chasm between the races in America.

Jon Stewart began with a clip of Reverend Wright thundering, "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America'? No, no, no, God damn America."

He then showed various pundits claiming that these remarks could sink Obama's candidacy. Stewart summarized their statements as "Yeah, I mean we all love Jesus, but why do you have to be so black and angry about it?"

Stewart turned from that to Obama's speech, beginning with his suggestion that "the politically safe thing to do would be to move on from this episode and just hope that it fades into the woodwork."

"Yes! Move on!" applauded Stewart. "Nothing to see here people, it all goes away. I'm sure another governor will fellate a donkey and we'll all hear about that. ... We can pretend this whole thing never happened."

"For the men and women of Reverend Wright's generation," Obama continued, "the memories of humiliation and doubt and fear have not gone away, nor has the anger and the bitterness of those years."

"Black anger real?" asked Stewart, nervously pulling out a remote control and clicking it. "Okay, the doors are locked. I'm ready to hear another diatribe about white America."

"A similar anger exists within segments of the white community," said Obama, before concluding with the hope that "We can come together and say, 'Not this time.'"

"And so, at 11 o'clock AM on a Tuesday, a prominent politician spoke to Americans about race as though they were adults," commented Stewart, to applause and cheers.

Stewart then turned to "Senior Black Correspondent" Larry Wilmore, suggesting "So you guys in private, you're pretty mad? ... Let's start a dialog."

Wilmore took up the offer. "Little pet peeve," he began. "Music. You guys have a tendency to, you know, ruin it. You know, like jazz. ... You guys take it and turn it into Kenny G."

"If I may," Stewart came back. "On the topic of music ... a lot of times when you guys are driving down the street, it's really loud. And, er, we hate that."

"Just tell 'em to turn it down," said Wilmore. "That's what I do."

"We would, but -- we're scared," Stewart replied.

"I get it," replied Wilmore, understandingly. "That makes complete sense."

Because every time the old fool says something else as dumb as that, he takes one step further away from ever being able to win in November.

Penn’s War: Media Lap Dogs Backed Iraq Mess
Actor Narrates a New Documentary That Indicts U.S. Involvement in Iraq

by Susan Donaldson James

Sean Penn, the actor-director-turned-political-activist, narrates a new anti-war documentary that alleges U.S. presidents since Kennedy have manipulated the public to wage wars.

The searing documentary coincides with the fifth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq and asserts that the mainstream media have been cheerleaders for a war that has cost the nation — according to Department of Defense figures this week — 3,980 lives.

The star, who won for best actor in the 2003 film “Mystic River,” has been an outspoken critic of the war, often calling it “Dante’s Inferno.”

This week, “War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death” has been released for home entertainment to distributors like Amazon and Best Buy and on Netflix. The film premiered in New York City, Saturday.

Penn, 47, has toured Iraq twice — once just before the Bush administration stepped up drumbeats for the war in December 2002, and also as a correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle.

Written and directed by Loretta Alper and Jeremy Earp, the film weaves archival footage from World War II to the Iraq War. It is based on the book by the same name, written in 2005 by Norman Solomon, founder and executive director of the Institute for Public Accuracy.

‘No One Else Has the Guts to Go’
“I invited Sean Penn out of the blue, when no one else had the guts to go,” Solomon told ABCNEWS.com. “When I worked on the film, I contacted him and he didn’t hesitate at all. He donated his time, his work and his reputation.”

Penn was unavailable for comment because he is in production on a film about the life of Harvey Milk, his publicist Rachel Karten of I/D Public Relations told ABCNEWS.com. The actor is set to play the gay politician of San Francisco’s 1970s in a biopic directed by Gus Van Sant.

Penn has been a growing political force in Hollywood. That is no surprise, considering Penn’s roots: His father, actor and director Leo Penn, was blacklisted in the 1950s for his support of Joseph Stalin.

From his early days portraying an airhead in 1982’s “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” Penn has played more highly charged roles like a death row inmate in “Dead Man Walking” (1995) and Sgt. Eddie Walsh in the anti-war film “The Thin Red Line” (1998).

Penn answered a call to help in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, literally pulling people out of the water. A year ago, Penn led a town meeting in California that was critical of President Bush and his handling of the war, drawing both public praise and scorn.

Penn once paid $56,000 for an ad in The Washington Post criticizing the war, according to a report in USA Today. He also baited Bush for his handling of Katrina and his “inflammatory rhetoric” toward Iran.

“You and your smarmy pundits — and the smarmy pundits you have in your pocket — can take your war and shove it,” Penn told the San Francisco Chronicle at the time. “Let’s unite not only in stopping this war, but in holding this administration accountable.”

Reaction to “War Made Easy” has been favorable, according to Adi Bemak, gift director of the Media Education Foundation, which produced the film and is distributing it worldwide.

The project also received support from actor Matt Damon, who was listed in the film’s credits as a “friend” of the foundation.

“We thank all the friends who have supported our work, and that really means in all kinds of ways — networking, hosting events, hosting staff, making donations,” Bemak said.

Toll or Deaths, Injuries
Five years after the American “shock and awe” campaign to oust the regime of Saddam Hussein, 159,000 troops still remain in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense. In addition to military deaths, an estimated 29,275 have been wounded. But the largest toll has been on Iraqi civilians, with 81,964 to 89,448 dead, according to the Brookings Institute.

One of the highest prices of the war has been the public loss of faith in the ability of its government to tell the truth and in a docile press corps, according to the film.

Solomon’s meticulous research and rarely seen archival news footage from World War II through the Vietnam War, Panama, Grenada, Bosnia and two Gulf wars analyzes the way in which the media regurgitated the politicians’ justification for war.

Every president since John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush — all except Jimmy Carter — came under fire for their war rhetoric. But Solomon is even harsher on the news media that trumpeted the government’s war cry.

Even Walter Cronkite, whom Solomon calls “the patron saint of journalism,” did not escape attack, as CBS footage chronicled the newsman’s participation in an aerial mission in Vietnam. Cronkite marvels at the weaponry and U.S. military superiority.

Analyzing the press coverage of the Iraq War, Solomon points to the masterful use of public relations by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld when he called on 500 journalists to “embed” themselves with the troops. In doing so, the press showed only the perspective of the “attackers” and not the victims.

Solomon contends he is no pacifist: “If war is justified, the government doesn’t have to lie about it.”

“The public supported World War II even though it went on for so long, because the public never felt it was based on lies,” according to Solomon, who, in the film, reminds the audience of the now-debunked Bush mantra that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

In one of the most compelling scenes of the film, Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., speaks out against impending war in Afghanistan in never-seen footage three days after 9/11. She cast the lone vote in Congress against authorizing force in the emotional aftermath of the terrorist attacks.

Journalists as Stenographers
“War Made Easy” is being distributed to schools around the country in the hope that Americans can learn “media literacy” and be more critical consumers of the news, looking to more than mainstream sources, the film’s distributors contend.

Solomon also urges the media to get back to solid investigative reporting that challenges the reins of power. Today, he said, they are only “stenographers of the war makers in Washington.”

“Journalists want to be ahead of the curve, but not out on a limb and they don’t want to take professional risks,” Solomon said. “There are great reporters through all the eras, but they are islands of good journalism swamped by oceans of received wisdom.”

“It’s an appeal to democracy that can create genuine alternatives to war,” he said. “Journalists need to fight back and the public needs to challenge itself.”

However, Rich Noyes, director of research at the Media Research Center, sees the press coverage leading up to the war in Iraq differently. He has just released a five-year study of the three major television networks.

“The left has claimed that the media didn’t do enough to stop the war in its tracks,” he told ABCNEWS.com. “But if you go back to the questions asked and the articles that were written and the news that aired, there were great skeptics, adversarial coverage and even hostile news coverage.”

The most aggressive, Noyes said, was Peter Jennings of ABC News. “We have pages and pages of quotes.”

Despite the media’s attacks, Noyes said the media historically has had a “liberal tilt.”

Since the onset of the war, the media have been even more anti-government, according to Noyes.

By 2004, with coverage of scandals like Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse, the negative stories “more than outstripped the coverage of Medals of Honor winners and Silver Stars,” he said.

“The vast array of coverage showed soldiers as anonymous or victims of policy perpetrators or misdeeds,” said Noyes. “This sort of bad news hurt the morale of the country.”

Alan Schroeder, associate professor of journalism at Northeastern University, told ABCNEWS.com that investigative journalism is not alive and well today. He worries that corporate forces have taken their toll on an independent media.

“Investigative journalism takes a lot of time and you don’t produce daily stories and it requires a financial investment,” he said. “Journalism is a business and subject to all the pressures of the marketplace.”

Uh-oh. More trouble in paradise...

White House documents reveal that Hillary Clinton lied to voters about her opposition to a trade pact blamed in industrial states for killing jobs, Barack Obama's campaign said Thursday.

A trawl through more than 11,000 pages of schedules from Clinton's time as first lady fueled friction between the two Democratic White House contenders, as they also brawled over holding new contests in Florida and Michigan.

Obama aides said the schedules, which were released Wednesday after much back and forth between Clinton lawyers and the National Archives, undermined the New York senator's most contentious claims of foreign policy experience.

Seizing on the controversial North American Free Trade Agreement, they highlighted an ABC News report which cited participants at one White House meeting in 1993 as saying Clinton was "fully supportive" of NAFTA.

"It does make you wonder if this was one of the reasons why there was such a reluctance to get those records out there on a timely basis," Obama strategist David Axelrod said on a conference call.

No surprises here. Hillary's a liar. Obama's a racist. Now move along everyone. Nothing to see here.

I guess he's already pissing his pants...Does John McCain suffer from Senile Dementia?

Baghdad, 20 Feb 08:

And here is just a personal vignette of an experience I and my psychologist buddy had with the Republican probable nominee, Senator McCain. He came here, as you might know, to “inspect the situation.” Jesus, what a farce! There he was, walking around a marketplace with more armed guards than Bush has, and wearing a huge bullet-proof vest. Anyway, after he “inspected” the market, he came to the Green Zone for some rigged conference with the lying generals.. My buddy and I were going to visit another friend when we saw guards, etc, in front of a rec room door. Curious, we went into another unguarded room, opened several doors and guess what?

There was the Senator all by himself, sitting on a folding chair by a card table. We were a little awed so I said “Hello, Senator. Sorry to bother you.” He looked at us like we were cows and kept blinking.

Finally, he smiled and said -

“Hey, there, soldiers! How is it going? Is it going good?” and my friend the shrink said, “Why yes, Senator. Everything is great!” And McCain smiled at nothing and looked around the room.

“Well…I’m glad to hear it. You are the General?”

And I said, a little sarcastically, “Why no, Senator, not quite yet.” And he looked at me like I was a sheep or something, smiling s silly smile.

“Oh” he said to the table, “Let’s hope it gets a little cooler here. Have you been here long?”

My friend said, “Too long Senator.”

“Why that’s good, General,” the Senator replied to the ceiling. Then his lips moved but he said nothing.

He looked up and smiled. My wife’s grandfather did just that. And the Senator may have been sitting right near us but believe me, he was somewhere else. Then he began a conversation with someone who wasn’t there and my friend took my arm and said, “I think we should get the hell out of here,” and we started to go back the way we came when some civilian came in.

“It’s time to go to the meeting, John,” but McCain just smiled and kept on talking to the table. The civilian said, “All right, gentlemen, time to go. The Senator is very tired and has jet lag.” And when we left, the Senator was talking complete nonsense.

Later, one of the staff personnel told both of us that the Senator had “a little accident” and he had to change his pants. Jesus H. Christ! This nut is going to be a President? My friend, who is a pro, said he was very obviously suffering from pre-Alzheimer’s and believe me, although I am not trained, this one was a pure space case. They must know this. I guess they give him a shot of something before he gets out in public but if you saw him with a vacant stare, talking to himself, you would not have to be a professional shrink to know that putting this pathetic man into the Oval Office would be a worse mistake than putting Bush in. At least as far as we know, Bush doesn’t talk to the walls and wet himself.

If you actually read the report, you'll find that the so-called ties that the 9/11 commission found between Iran and Al Qaeda were incredibly weak, and most dated to before 9/11. There is good evidence to suggest that, rather than being guests in Iran, top Al Qaeda operatives were in fact being held prisoner there. There is certainly no reason to believe that Al Qaeda operatives are being trained in Iran and sent back across the border into Iraq, like McCain said on several different occasions, and your Great White Hope Joe Lieberman had to whisper in his ear was nonsense. McCain's one supposed strength, that he is a foreign policy expert, is dissolving before your eyes - how anyone who has championed this God-forsaken, 5 years and counting war can be considered some sort of expert on these things is still a mystery to me.

Mr. Clinton helped elevate Mr. Richardson to the national stage by naming him his energy secretary and ambassador to the United Nations. And Mr. Clinton left no doubt that he viewed Mr. Richardson’s support as important to his wife’s campaign: He even flew to New Mexico to watch the Super Bowl with Mr. Richardson as part of the Clintons’ high-profile courtship of him.

But Mr. Richardson stopped returning Mr. Clinton’s calls days ago, Mr. Clinton’s aides said. And as of Friday, Mr. Richardson said, he had yet to pick up the phone to tell Mr. Clinton of his decision.

The reaction of some of Mr. Clinton’s allies suggests that might have been a wise decision. “An act of betrayal,” said James Carville, an adviser to Mrs. Clinton and a friend of Mr. Clinton.

Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign is trying to clarify comments by former President Clinton that seemed to question Barack Obama's patriotism - comments an Obama aide likened to Joseph McCarthy.

Clinton's campaign said the comments were being misinterpreted and quickly posted a clarification on its Web site. But retired Air Force Gen. Merrill "Tony" McPeak said he was disappointed by the comments and compared them to those of McCarthy, the 1950s communist-hunting senator.

The former president made the comments while speculating about a general election between his wife and Republican John McCain.

"I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country," said Clinton, who was speaking to a group of veterans Friday in Charlotte, N.C. "And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

McPeak, a former chief of staff of the Air Force and currently a co-chair of Obama's presidential campaign, said that sounded like McCarthy.

"I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it," McPeak said.

The Washington Post is aligning its Fact Checker with Rich Noyes of NewsBusters. On Saturday's front page, the Inside box reads: "Four Pinocchios! Hillary Clinton has talked of coming under sniper fire during a 1996 trip to Bosnia. Our Fact Checker shoots that tale down." In the Michael Dobbs "Fact Checker" feature, four Pinocchios means not just fact-shading or exaggerating, but "Real whoppers." (It wasn't prominently featured on the washingtonpost.com home page.)

On the day Mr. Spitzer resigned, Mr. Paterson held an impromptu press conference, the new governor was asked by New York Sun reporter Jacob Gershman whether he had ever used the services of a prostitute. Mr. Paterson waited a moment and then replied, "Only the lobbyists." This witty rejoinder to a possibly impertinent question enhanced his reputation as a regular fellow.

Another woman came forth yesterday, with a shove by Fred Dicker, the Post's crusading state editor. Apparently Diane Dixon, who won an Olympic gold medal while on the United States track team in 1984 in Los Angeles, and Mr. Dicker exchanged e-mails last week. She told him she had taped conversations with Mr. Paterson. He recommended her for several positions in the Department of Education. She was supposed to have been hired for one of the jobs, but has not started work yet. Mr. Paterson said yesterday that "any conversation she said she recorded with me could be played in this room and it wouldn't be interesting." He added: "I know her, not that well."

He knew her well enough, however, to recommend her for a number of non-teaching positions on the outskirts of the Tweed empire. In the Post, Ms. Dixon described herself as a single parent, which was the first category of individuals that Mr. Paterson spoke about on Wednesday as requiring special assistance.

Even assuming that there was no close, personal relationship between the two, the issue arises of how far a high state official, or any public employee, should go in pressing an agency to hire someone they knew. One reason the DOE was taken away from the old, politically dominated seven-member board was to get rid of politics in the school system.

If people still are being hired on the basis of calls from the powerful, that goal has not yet been reached. Chancellor Klein should look into this, and let the public know what he discovers. It is difficult to conceive that Mr. Paterson is the only public official who calls the Department of Education to help someone find a job.

Capitalism Fails AGAIN:

In the introduction to a series of guest articles reflecting on the "usable past" of the New Deal, The Nation writes, "Seventy-five years ago, facing the catastrophic, worldwide failure of the free market, Franklin Roosevelt launched what is perhaps the greatest democratic experiment of the twentieth century... How can a look back help us confront the challenges of the present--from the tangled housing, credit and financial market crises to global warming to the small-mindedness of public policy and debate today?"

Capitalism fails every time.

Except 99.9% of the times when it doesn't. But hey, it's not perfect. so lets get rid of it. 'Nothing' or 'Something untested' beats something that only works 99.9% of the time every day of the week!

But only if you're stupid enough to be a leftist.

Not everyone is in 100% agreement that FDR’s New Deal actually helped end or even shorten the Great Depression. A couple of books I’d recommend that make the case that centralized meddelling actually hurt would be Rethinking the Great Depression and FDR's Folly: How Roosevelt and His New Deal Prolonged the Great Depression .

But then one only need look at the difference in lifestyle of the average westerner compared to those behind the iron or bamboo curtain for obvious proof as to whether capitalism or communism benefits the greatest number of people.

Capitalism failed long before communism did and was supplanted by the mixed system of the New Deal which gave us about four of the best decades in American history til it was scrood up by a return of the naively unregulated capitalism of the ignorant right...now, we are seeing the results of a silly and childish
view which thinks that you don't need to regulated humans who are in charge of vast wealth and power. Capitalism always fails...and brings out the worst in human nature: greed, short sightedness, gross materialism, environmental and social destruction, war mongering and reckless disregard for everything but PROFIT...always measured in MONEY rather than in the far more elevated and broader measures of worth and achievement...but the primitive conservative always embraces the policies that lead to failure. Now, they've drug us down again and we will again have to abandon their pie in the sky "magic market" naivete and rebuild all over again.

It's the GOP way...and these morons LIKE getting scrood...it's the only way they CAN get it:

NYT: New government research has found “large and growing” disparities in life expectancy for richer and poorer Americans, paralleling the growth of income inequality.

A Thousand Times Worse than Saddam:

Michael Schwartz | The Battle of Baghdad
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/032408I.shtml
Michael Schwartz, writing for TomDispatch.com, says: "Over the course of five years, Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq, has been transformed from a metropolis into an urban desert of half-destroyed buildings and next to no public services, dotted by partially deserted, mutually hostile mini-ghettos that used to be neighborhoods, surrounded by cement barriers reminiscent of medieval fortifications. The most prominent of these ghettos is the heavily fortified city-inside-a-city dubbed the Green Zone, where Iraq's most fearsome militia, the United States military, is headquartered. It is governed by the Americans and by the American-sponsored Iraqi government, headed by Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki."

Mr. Sayet,

Interesting blog. It's always entertaining and little bit scary to see leftist ideology on parade.

I was wondering, do you consider the relatively recent move by schools to "zero tolerance" policies an outgrowth of this indiscriminate "thinking"? It seems they have jettisoned responsibility for judging a particular situation by applying a mindless standard that often punishes non-perpetrators of wrong-doing. Example: The child that draws a picture of a gun and is expelled for 3 days.

Frankly, I'm for children getting out of the government schools as often as possible - even if it comes in 3 day increments.

I swear you people get dumber by the hour. You know who creates zero tolerance policies? Reactionary, law-and-order obsessed parent groups. What this has to do with liberalism is beyond me - I notice that you didn't mention the kids who are expelled for drug offenses like bringing Tylenol to school, since that would have blown the lid off of your half-assed idea that it's liberals who are responsible.

You're right there, Boil...these guys don't even know what a conservative is anymore. This pinhead got confused because it involved guns.

Mr. boil,

Nice to meet you too.

Of course it is.

Actually that was my second example, and rather than Tylenol, I think it was the vitamins a young man was taking.

A freedom thinking philosophy might prohibit guns, but would allow for judgment and discernment of those enforcing the policy to realize that a picture of a gun, or a paper cut out of one, or Tylenol or vitamins would be permissible. Invariably, the original “offense” is noticed by a teacher or school employee.

...law-and-order obsessed parent...
I don’t think so. Other than the very-easy-to-offend Athiests, rarely are student/parents offended about drawings on paper or a pen with the Glock symbol on them. Maybe you could provide proof of a situation that is parent driven.

Given that the NEA takes an anti-gun stance, and given governments struggle to control increasingly out-of-control students, it seems to me that more liberal NEA and state equivalent organizations that have pressured schools to adopt zero tolerance policies.

Currently it is the liberal California that wants to do away with homeschooling. Which is of course another example of the left restricting freedom of choice. Like Mr. Sayet says, the liberals are the most illiberal philosophically.

What a litany of faulty reasoning and unsupported ideas.

Liberals don't support suspending a child for drawing a picture of a gun. This is a classic right wing straw man - point out some ridiculousness, say it's caused by "liberals", rinse and repeat.

Just because you think that atheists are more easy to offend than the religious doesn't make it true. It's not atheists who try to ban Harry Potter books.

Everything in education is parent-driven. This is one of those absolutely asinine talking points that the right-wing has concocted - that every silly decision that a school board makes is because of the NEA. Bullshit. Parents are behind the drive to teach Creationism in schools. Parents are behind the drive to ban books from school libraries. And parents are the reason that schools adopt zero-tolerance policies (because parents sue if they get even a whiff that their kids are treated differently than anyone else).

When it comes to homeschooling, what you call "freedom of choice" I call "coercion of minors". Parents are not the only ones who have rights, their kids do too, and those children are being given half-assed educations by parents who are unqualified to teach, but who insist on doing so.

Anonymous said...

After Colombine, parents all over began to demand their kids be kept "safe in school" and threatened lawsuits which caused schools to panic and overreact...to blame it on the NEA is ludicrous...here's a typical right wing enablement of that policy: Scalia wrote a caustic decision allowing drug testing of students. "Minors," he said, "lack some of the most fundamental rights of self-determination--including even the right of liberty in its narrow sense, i.e., the right to come and go at will." The ruling was widely seen to give administrators carte blanche in punishing students, though schools still must follow some weak due-process guidelines.

Richard Hartman said...

Mr. Boil,

Interesting. "Everything in education is parent-driven."

Well that makes sense then. I was wondering who was behind putting condoms on bananas, the banning of the anti-gay terms Mom and Dad in school, the look-say whole word method of reading, and evolution. It was the parents all along.

"Parents are behind the drive to teach Creationism in schools."
Ok, I stand corrected. Wait, if everything in Gov-school is parent-driven, yet the parents want creation in school, but its not there....Must be a disconnect in your theory.

"Parents are not the only ones who have rights, their kids do too, and those children are being given half-assed educations by parents who are unqualified to teach, but who insist on doing so."
Why do those evil parents even have kids? Shouldn’t the state be housing and having the little boogers instead? Keep those evil, untrained by competent bureaucrat parents away from those precious souls. After all, we know who truly cares for them.

The Big Bad Parents? Boooooooooo!

Wonderful Government? Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaa!
