Dear Real America,
When leftist elite, from Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann to Matt Damon and Lindsay Lohan to Eve Ensler and Barbra Streisand attack John McCain and now their favorite target, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, they are attack you.
Is Sarah Palin REALLY a "bible-thumping, book burning" meance to all that is good and right? Of course not. But this is the deeply held belief of the most powerful and influential people in the Democrat Party -- their money-people, their publicity machine and their policy makers.
These types of hateful attacks are not new. Barack Obama himself described you as morons and bigots who "cling" to your Christianity out of your bitterness. Thomas Frank, in one of the best selling leftist-penned books of its kind took almost three hundred pages to tell the world what "the matter" is with the people of Kansas who similarly cling to their wrong-headed beliefs out of their intellectual inferiority.
To these elitists, the people who live (literally and figuratiely) in what they derisively call "fly-over country" (places that our betters have no choice but look down on from airplanes as they jet from Hollywood to New York and then on to Cannes.
These arrogant narcissists are convinced that you are stupid because you have been duped into believing in God (and you continue to "cling" to that belief) and that your are bigoted because you love America (they themselves are "citizens of the world").
Since you are stupid and bigoted -- like Sarah Palin -- you need to be controlled. This control comes in two forms, taking away the freedom that comes from making decisions with your own money and the creation of more and more laws that restrict your freedom.
Ask yourself why are the leftists so "outraged" at Sarah Palin speaking at her church and saying we should pray for our troops but not the least bit outraged at Barack Obama's being the protege of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, an affiliation that lasted his entire adult life, saw Obama (albeit it quite eloquently) throw his grandmother under a bus to protect the hate-monger's racist ministry? It's because they hate Governor Palin's patriotism and love of God, but they agree with Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, William Ayers and the rest of today's Democrat Party that God should "damn America."
Sarah Palin IS America and the leftist elite is going to do their best to damn her, no matter how many lies it takes.

Dear Evan, are you America? Even though you live in LA?
I am America because I cherish the values that made America great.
I'm not a Christian but far from fearing Christians the way Democrats do, I greatly appreciate that they have created a land where Jews have the best life ever in the history of the world.
The sense of "entitlement" that the Democrat has is un-American and their incessant blaming of everyone else for their own short-comings is not what made America great.
I keep two images in my head about this election -- one is a young John McCain, a spoiled admirals' son, a fly boy and bon vivant who, suddenly shot down and left with NOTHING and TRULY oppressed and tortured who found strength and courage and compassion in those cells for five years and the other of Michelle Obama, sitting cross-legged under a maple tree on the lush lawns of Princeton where low interest (in other words, worker subsidized) loans and likely affirmative action programs got her and she's writing this angry, hateful papers about how evil America is and how bad her life and how "oppressed" she is.
That's what this campaign is about. The can-do Americans like war hero John McCain and the mom turned PTA hero turned city council hero turned small town mayor hero turned Governor of the largest and most complex state who solves her problems and doesn't bitch or moan or demand more welfare in one form or another.
Which America do YOU believe in. Which America do YOU want for the future? That's the question of this election.
"the creation of more and more laws that restrict your freedom."
Ironically that's a perfect summation of what the Bush administration, with the full complicity of the GOP, has been doing for the last eight years.
The ubiquity of their "free speech zones... The listening posts that eavesdrop on American citizens... Their constant lying and obfucations- that's truly UN-American.
You are mistaking criticsm for hate. The reason that Palin has drawn such scrutiny is because she is undereducated, inexperienced, unqualified, and a liar. Had McCain vetted her properly the media wouldn't have to do so now. Quit whining about it. No one knows who she really is, and the McCain campaign has made the problem worse by trying to protect her from the media. The fact that you are personally offended and defensive about your new hero is completely beside the point. No one is going to quit exercising their free speech because it bothers you.
The fact that you think Palin is "just like y'all" exposes your depths of ignorance. Do you have a seaplane parked on your own private lake, bordering on hundreds of acres, and capped with a mansion? What percentage of America does? That's the percentage that the McCain/Palin ticket truly represents. I bet you've never hunted in your life.
I am America because I cherish the values that made America great.
So then, it's not about where one lives, it's about the values one holds, is that correct?
So then why do you disparage Hollywood, New York, and Cannes? Are those places not full of people like yourself, who hold the values that made America great?
I am not mistaking criticism for hate, I am rightly recognizing that blind slander in the guise of "criticism" is, in fact, hate.
"Free speech zones"??? Do you even know what they are? They are areas on COLLEGE CAMPUSES cordoned off from the other 99 percent of the campus, the ONLY places where non-leftist speech ("hate speech" because it is factually correct but not politically correct) is allowed.
The notion that America is an evil place where secret and all-powerful forces conspire to keep everyone down is the gist of leftist dogma. It is part and parcel of Obama's speeches and his wife's life work. It is the stuff of his mentor, Jeremiah Wright and the reason that his close colleague William Ayers bombed our country.
If bombing and lying and spreading hate is "criticism" you can keep it. I'm voting for the people who wear American flag label pins and who don't believe that God should damn America and who don't write "intellectual" papers about how evil America is and don't bomb our capitol.
And why is it that you constantly and consistently make baseless claims and accusations that you know are unture?
lush lawns of Princeton where low interest (in other words, worker subsidized) loans
So now there's something wrong with taking out student loans? John McCain didn't have student loans because the Naval Academy is completely, 100% taxpayer-subsidized, as is the War College.
Isn't going to college and taking out loans that you yourself will repay later the epitome of self-reliant, pull yourself up by your bootstraps American values?
and she's writing this angry, hateful papers about how evil America is and how bad her life and how "oppressed" she is.
Please show me the paper(s) where she wrote that. don't even try, you won't be able to. lying again.
Governor of the largest and most complex state
Most complex state? where did you get this? If any state is most complex, it's probably CA.
who solves her problems and doesn't bitch or moan or demand more welfare in one form or another.
Except in the largest earmarks/person ratio in the country!!! LOL you're too funny.
And tell me, where did Michelle Obama or Barack Obama demand welfare? The two went to college, went to law school, self-made their careers and are completely self-sufficient.
The notion that America is an evil place where secret and all-powerful forces conspire to keep everyone down is the gist of leftist dogma. It is part and parcel of Obama's speeches and his wife's life work.
his wife's life work was in a large chicago law firm, Sidley Austin, and then at a hospital.
Why is that bad? Where does what you just attributed to her figure in?
Also, Evan, did you take out student loans to go to college?
The fact that you think Palin is "just like y'all" exposes your depths of ignorance.
Yeah, Palin and her army of stylists and her $2,500 designer Italian jackets.
Just like me, maybe, but not just like most Americans.
Whether I hunt or I don't hunt is irrelevent. She is like us because she wasn't politically ambitious. Because, when she saw a problem she took it on and succeeded. Because she is optimistic and grateful as opposed to bitterly angry and entitled. I can't for one moment imagine Sarah and Todd Palin taking their children into Jeremiah Wright's church. I can't imagine for one minute Sarah Palin describing hard working Americans as stupid and bitter. I can't imagine for one minute Sarah Palin refusing to wear an American flag lapel pin or refusing to put her hand on her heart in appreciation for all that America has given her -- and America has GIVEN her a lot less than the angry, bitter and hateful Barack Obama clan.
"I am rightly recognizing that blind slander in the guise of "criticism" is, in fact, hate."
Well I guess your hateful post itself demonstrates your expertise on the issue. Shrewd maneuver, dude.
""Free speech zones"??? Do you even know what they are? They are areas on COLLEGE CAMPUSES cordoned off from the other 99 percent of the campus, the ONLY places where non-leftist speech ("hate speech" because it is factually correct but not politically correct) is allowed."
What are you talking about? You're just making shit up to distract your readers from the fact that you don't have a reasonable answer to my charge. However, I am now curious about where you went to school.
"The notion that America is an evil place where secret and all-powerful forces conspire to keep everyone down is the gist of leftist dogma."
Wow, that's ironic, because the only place I ever heard anything like that was out of the mouth of Rush Limbaugh and his hack radio ilk. I see you've absorbed the talking point.
"I'm voting for the people who wear American flag label pins and who don't believe that God should damn America and who don't write "intellectual" papers about how evil America is and don't bomb our capitol."
Do you even realize how much you sound like a complete tool?
"She is like us because she wasn't politically ambitious."
Ok... I get it. You got me. You are only impersonating a tool. This is the quoet that tipped me off. You have to include a shred of realism in your impersonation to fool people. No ONE would make this claim if they were being serious.
I especially liked this touch in your latest post:
" I can't for one moment imagine Sarah and Todd Palin taking their children into Jeremiah Wright's church."
Of course not, because in their church it's mostly god talking about building pipelines and invading Iraq.
"She is like us because she wasn't politically ambitious."
Ok... I get it. You got me. You are only impersonating a tool. This is the quoet that tipped me off. You have to include a shred of realism in your impersonation to fool people. No ONE would make this claim if they were being serious.
Yeah, i have to agree here.
You don't really believe that Sarah Palin wasn't politically ambitious, do you, Evan?
Well, the nub of it all is that he's just a dishonest, reicho clown, and using this "the left hates America" thing has proven a useful lie for them...albeit one that has long been much the worse for wear, and one that is no longer even used by any but the most threadbare and unresourceful of their fools.
The poor, weak dufus can't even come to terms with the simple FACT that even Fox news and Karl Rove, as well as an increasing number of other conservatives, have been calling Palin/McCain on their incredibly brazen use of provable and demonstrable lies.
It's always only the leftists with this poor, two dimensional robot.
So many GOP disasters manifesting today, you don't even know where to start.
Even FDR with a massive majority in both whorehouses and a supine, ass licking Soopreme Court would not be able to rescue us from the hole they've put us in this time.
Now, add David Brooks as one who hates you...and America...he says Palin is not qualified.

Will we get a thousand point drop in the DOW this week? Are we on the edge of another Great Depression...the second in eighty years to be brought on by GOP mismanagement, deregulation and rampant corruption?
Down 430 right now to go with the over 500 Monday...but here's the big flash...there are still morons who want four more years of GOPigs at the trough!!
Now, I axes you...ain that something? Why do those Mofos hate America and always try to destroy it?

Amen!
Yas, but we must not change whoreses in the middle of the sewer!!
Palin/McCorpse for a firm hand on the tiller and two sticky ones in the till.
Evan is a pretty sharp and articulate guy but I have to say that even he must admit that the evidence of the unreasoning hatred of the left that has been presented by the other posters on this thread makes his efforts pale in comparison. The left "bitter and angry?" Can there really be any question?
Say, now, that do cause wun to conjure...I see John McCorpse's bony, dead hand clamped to the tiller of the violently pitching raft; voluptuous Sarah tied to the mast to forestall her unconscious body going overboard...more than just a bit of cleavage showing, her dress ripped to the c-c-c-c-crotch...sorry... and, my! WHAT color ARE those panties?
Another dumb motherfucker?
The elves are working overtime.
I admit only to reasoned hatred...though you can soooopersize me on that.
Frankly, I really cannot believe, Even, that you would condemn someone for going to college through student loans. How in the hell is anyone supposed to pull themselves up by their bootstraps if they don't have a rich mommy and daddy to pay for college, then? it's like the poor cant't win.
If they don't go to college, they're lazy and poor. If they do through loans because that's the only way they can do it, they're using taxpayer dolllars.
W.T.F.?!
Who are you arguing with, dora? Your own strawman, AGAIN???? Now there's a surprise.
No, Berty, here's Evan, just higher up in this thread of comments, somehow attributing fault to Michelle Obama for daring to have student loans:
Michelle Obama, sitting cross-legged under a maple tree on the lush lawns of Princeton where low interest (in other words, worker subsidized) loans and likely affirmative action programs got her
In case you hadn't noticed, Evan wasn't denigrating everyone taking college loans... he was denigrating the UNGRATEFUL FEW who would avail themselves of all the perks and privileges that come with being an American college student, and then who shout "oppression" and demonstrate an irrational hatred against those who gave them that very opportunity.
How can a young black girl like Michelle Obama, drowning in privilege, credibly claim "oppression"?
I said earlier:
"At least Dora has the character
and confidence of her convictions to appear as she is and engage in reasonable debate (no matter how cuckoo-clocked her politics are)."
Unfortunately, her cuckoo-clocked politics have compromised her reasoning.
Obviously, Evan is talking about differences in character quality.
Those differences are clear--and confirmed both by your nitpicking line-of-questioning and the hateful, mocking garbage spewed by your reptilian cohorts.
The difference is between a conservative man like Evan who openly and cheerfully admits he has dyslexia, fully secure and confident that it is irrelevant to both his intelligence and insights (and it is, self-evidently, irrelevant), and a dyslexic like yourself, who denies it out of insecurity and fear.
The leftist always hides his/her true self behind a facade, and argues by converting psychological ddfense mechanisms (often in overdrive) as offensive weapons --with projection most frequently at the vanguard.
Even Dora can't help but surrender to the lefty compulsion to hide and don a mask and pretend she's someone else, because the lefty can never stand alone on his/her flimsy convictions and vaporous principles and can only find strength in numbers.
It's a wolfpack mentality (and just another reason why they hate Sarah Palin, who sanctions picking off their animal counterparts from above).
However, their group is small. They are a minority in the country at large and are shrinking, so, in the public, political sphere they try to inflate their numbers by--when not posing as conservatives-- misreprersenting what the polls indicate (or, more often than not, what they don't indicate), and in the blogosphere by using a dozen aliases per troll.
For example, Dora and "merge divide" are one and the same (as the alias itself hints at).
Lefties have mental problems, one of them being the complete takeover of their personality by unconscious, psychological defense mechanisms, as mentioned, with projection front and center.
Look here what Dora/"Merge Divide"
projects:
"Do you even realize how much you sound like a complete tool?"
Does she?
All the trolls are mindless tools, useful idiots, of their insidious gurus higher up on the food chain who give them their marching ordres.
They clearly demonstrate complete, monolithic indoctrination to a cult that produces and dispatches orcs from the Mordors of Daily Kos, Moveon, Common Dreams, etc. to attack and infiltrate the citadels of Right Wing Minas Tiriths.
They regurgitate and blurt out the same lingo, cliches, and talking points because they drink from the same Pierian spring of Kool Aid, and they've drunk deep.
Listen to this broken record:
"You're just making shit up (Google "making shit up")...Wow (feigned, mocking amazement, de rigeur for the elitist)...Rush Limbaugh and his hack radio ilk" (interchangeable with "faux news" and Hannity).
She doesn't even realize she's giving herself away as just another run-of-the-mill lefty who's absorbed the buzz of The Hive.
They all buzz the same (with, of course, a very few nuanced idiosyncracies between them that are identifiable).
Meanwhile, the projection persists from start to finish:
"I see you've absorbed the talking point."
Evan, you're right. A landslide for McCain-Palin-- though unlikely, at this juncture--is feasible.
Obama-Biden's most vociferous support are zombies, and the more they're heard, the more normal people recoil (which is why Obama wouldn't even give them the time of day in public).
Hey bertie, how ya doin'?
Hi, John! Glad to see another voice of reason posting here.
John,
Your distortions in the service of your masters are revealing a deeply delusional perspective. You used a whole lot of words to express exactly nothing.
If you did even a modicum of research, you'd realize just how off-base you are.
I have a hard time believing that even someone like you can't see that Evan is satirizing "conservatives" with his rhetoric. Jeez... you'd think the fact that he's pimpin' his comedy tour would be a tip-off.
Couldn't let you have all the fun, berty.
I'm watching Palin on Hannity. She's superb.
Add jeolousy to one of the reasons for the hate.
he was denigrating the UNGRATEFUL FEW who would avail themselves of all the perks and privileges that come with being an American college student, and then who shout "oppression" and demonstrate an irrational hatred against those who gave them that very opportunity.
The problem with your argument is that it's not based in reality, also known as facts. Michelle Obama is ungrateful? Shouting "oppression"? having an "irrational hatred" of America?
Please, cite your evidence.
And please tell me, who "gave [Michelle Obama] that very opportunity"? Was it something that she needed to ask for, or was it her god-given right as a native-born American? No, no one "gives" her any opportunities.
John,
I hope you can absorb talking points while you are staring mesmerized at your fantasy object.
So, what are the well-documented differences in character between John Mccain and Michelle Obama? Evan's post is very short on well-documented facts, with respect to Obama, and long on baseless accusations and rumors.
Even Dora can't help but surrender to the lefty compulsion to hide and don a mask and pretend she's someone else, because the lefty can never stand alone on his/her flimsy convictions and vaporous principles and can only find strength in numbers.

For example, Dora and "merge divide" are one and the same (as the alias itself hints at).
No, no such luck.
Lefties have mental problems, one of them being the complete takeover of their personality by unconscious, psychological defense mechanisms, as mentioned, with projection front and center.
Look here what Dora/"Merge Divide"
projects:
"Do you even realize how much you sound like a complete tool?"

Truly, it takes a seriously pathological conspiracy-theory-minded person to imagine that everyone on "the left" is receiving secret marching orders from Daily Kos & Co. I know you will probably not believe me, but I don't go to any of the websites you mention. I prefer HuffingonPost, Crooks and liars, and think progress, along with the NYT, BBC, Bloomgberg, WSJ, and Times of London. Don't forget Der Spiegel, feministing.com, wonkette, gawker, cnn, slate, salon.com, jezebel, buzzfeed, and journal women.
"You're just making shit up (Google "making shit up")...Wow (feigned, mocking amazement, de rigeur for the elitist)...Rush Limbaugh and his hack radio ilk" (interchangeable with "faux news" and Hannity).
until y'all come up with some facts to back up your accusations, you are making shit up. that's how reality works.
Michelle Obama is ungrateful?
"For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."
Later that day,
"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change."
Sounds a bit ungrateful. And given her graduation from Princeton and Harvard Law, pretty irrational.
no, no one gives her opportunities No? Would she have gotten into Princeton or Harvard Law had she NOT been African American? How about had she not been the daughter of a Chicago Democratic Precinct Captain. Does God give every American the chance to go to Harvard? I couldn't say for certain. But I could guess.
And given that as part of her graduation thesis: "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community" where those surveyed were asked to choose whether they were more in line with a "separationist and/or pluralist" viewpoint or an "integrationist and/or assimilationist" ideology, you get the impression she wants the black community to separate from the rest of America.
. "I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don't belong. Regardless of the circumstances under which I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second."
Oppressed?
"Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments."
"I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community. However, these findings do not support this possibility."
Gee, with that kind of attitude of disappointment as stated in her thesis conclusion, there's little wonder she feels so pessimistic about America. Makes me wonder where she learned to hate America so deeply. Add twenty years at Trinity Church with the Rev Wright, and well, that's the final nail in the coffin, isn't it?
Well, it looks like the bunny bounce is over. The vindictive, small time, psycho-bimbo is now beginning to have the drag effect on the Pig ticket that everyone (sane) knew she would.
And all those American hating conservatives coming out against her everyday...that must hurt!!
Jesus! The economy is tanking ...maybe the worst in many decades...and these pathetic losers just continue their petty ass whine about Palin's detractors.
How about trying this for a change:
WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!
(1) These are really the only quotes you have on her. 2. That's it. And yet you've founded some impression about her in spite of dozens of quotes from her to the contrary.
(2) I never really understood why she need to be "grateful" to America. She's a native-born American -- does anyone ask if john mccain is grateful to america? seems to me you're treating her as if she was an immigrant foreigner.
(3) I never understood how those quotes made her look "ungrateful." Unpatriotic, maybe, but ungrateful?
(4) I don't udnerstand why those quotes are "irrational" in light of the fact that she went to Princeton and Harvard.
no, no one gives her opportunities"
"No? Would she have gotten into Princeton or Harvard Law had she NOT been African American? How about had she not been the daughter of a Chicago Democratic Precinct Captain. Does God give every American the chance to go to Harvard? I couldn't say for certain. But I could guess."
Oh, you're right, she should be grateful that America liberated her ancestors from slavery, and then Jim Crow, and then let her go to Princeton.
Wait, aren't those just basic humanr ights to be free from slavery and discrimination??? Now we have to be grateful for basic human rights?
And given that as part of her graduation thesis: "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community" where those surveyed were asked to choose whether they were more in line with a "separationist and/or pluralist" viewpoint or an "integrationist and/or assimilationist" ideology, you get the impression she wants the black community to separate from the rest of America.
No, you don't get any impression, unless you have a preconceived bias.
Oppressed?
do you think that what she is expressing MIGHT POSSIBLY BE TRUE?? shoudl she not talk about it, for fear of looking "ungrateful"?
"Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments."
Do you disagree with this statement?
"I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community. However, these findings do not support this possibility."
Gee, with that kind of attitude of disappointment as stated in her thesis conclusion, there's little wonder she feels so pessimistic about America. Makes me wonder where she learned to hate America so deeply. Add twenty years at Trinity Church with the Rev Wright, and well, that's the final nail in the coffin, isn't it?
Hate America so deeply? Where's the hate? She merely points out the realities of higher education for black people. Do you have any black friends who have gone to elite colleges? I do, and this is what they report. In fact, a little bit of imagination leads to the same conclusions, even if you don't have any black college friends.
I just don't udnerstand what you find so objectionable about what she wrote, and where in her writings you get that she "hates America."
She may be critical, or not fervently patriotic, but that hardly equals to hate, don't you think?
Otherwise, the 80% of Americans who think the country is headed in the wrong direction also hate america, no?
hey morons! said...
Jesus! The economy is tanking ...maybe the worst in many decades...and these pathetic losers just continue their petty ass whine about Palin's detractors.
Of course, they aren't going to talk about anything substantive...they fucked all that up too bad, so they want to keep the subject on trivialities like whether Mz O is ungrateful or not!!
Incredible.
It's one of their oldest tricks.
What's amazing is how many liberals will actually get sucked into playing that game with them.
Geez...more people hatin on her and America every day...she is America...well, the lower third of it, although her husband believes Alaskianists are not really Americans at all.
CBS/NY Times Poll: Obama Retakes Lead Over McCain, CBS News/New York Times ...Sep 17, 2008 ... In a sign that John McCain's convention bounce has dissipated, Barack Obama has taken a 48 percent to 43 percent lead over his Republican rival.
Evan,
You're great.
I love your stuff and took your recommendation and have been reading "The Closing of the American Mind" by Allan Bloom.
I was referred to your talk given for The Heritage Foundation by a friend who posted it on his blog.
It warms my heart to know that there are true Americans out there such as yourself willing to speak up for what they know to be right, true, and immovable.
Thanks, buddy.
DJ
p.s.
Dora is a dumb-dumb head, poo-poo face.
"John,
Your distortions in the service of your masters are revealing a deeply delusional perspective."
I said it FIRST, Dora:
"Unfortunately, (Dora's) cuckoo-clocked politics have compromised her reasoning."
And:
"All the trolls are mindless tools, useful idiots, of their insidious gurus higher up on the food chain who give them their marching ordres.
They clearly demonstrate complete, monolithic indoctrination to a cult that produces and dispatches orcs from the Mordors of Daily Kos, Moveon, Common Dreams, etc. to attack and infiltrate the citadels of Right Wing Minas Tiriths."
Dora said:
"You used a whole lot of words to express exactly nothing."
*Au contraire,* madame, I expressed the groupthink and m.o.s of the Left and accurately characterized them as mindless minions of a dark ideology, as anyone with basic reading comprehension skills would comprehend.
"If you did even a modicum of research, you'd realize just how off-base you are."
On what point?
That leftists are enslaved to mindless groupthink and all sound the same?
I used your own words to prove it.
That their stance as representatives of mainstream American thinking while simultaneously trying to belittle and marginalize actual mainstream conservative thought is a deeply delusional perspective?
If not, why, then, would neither candidate ever daresay "I'm a liberal," while both try hard to prove they're conservative, McCain with explicit insistence and by his selection of Palin, while Obama took a screeching, hard-right turn on everything from wiretapping to drilling to gun control to capital punishment to same-sex marriage to flag pins, Duh-ra?
Ummmm...duhhhh...
I said:
"For example, Dora and "merge divide" are one and the same (as the alias itself hints at)."
"No, no such luck."
You all sound the same.
"Truly, it takes a seriously pathological conspiracy-theory-minded person to imagine that everyone on "the left" is receiving secret marching orders from Daily Kos & Co."
Why?
It's self-evident that you read from the same script.
The timing of your ebb and flows and the propaganda du jour coincides with the release of DNC talking points and "analyses" by the gurus.
"I know you will probably not believe me, but I don't go to any of the websites you mention. I prefer HuffingonPost, Crooks and liars, and think progress, along with the NYT, BBC, Bloomgberg, WSJ, and Times of London. I said:
"They clearly demonstrate complete, monolithic indoctrination to a cult that produces and dispatches orcs from the Mordors of Daily Kos, Moveon, Common Dreams, etc."
What does "etc." mean to you?
All the resources you mentioned are ideologically homogenous (i.e. they're parrots).
Dumb troll wants to focus on the Economy and the financial crises. Now, who should we put in charge of fixing it?
John McCain, who warned us of the crises back in 2005 and tried to fix it?
Or Barack Obama, who's chief economic advisor, Franklin Raines was the CEO of Fannie Mae?
Hmmmm. That's a toughie.
I wonder how long it'll be before Obama nominates Ken Lay to be his Energy Secretary?
Fj, Key Lay is dead, but it would be even funnier that way.
John, you seem to once again written a whole lot without saying much. I will point out this, though:
All the resources you mentioned are ideologically homogenous (i.e. they're parrots).
Really? The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times are ideologically homogeneous? lol
Sept. 18 (Bloomberg) -- The Democratic-controlled Congress, acknowledging that it isn't equipped to lead the way to a solution for the financial crisis and can't agree on a path to follow, is likely to just get out of the way.
Lawmakers say they are unlikely to take action before, or to delay, their planned adjournments -- Sept. 26 for the House of Representatives, a week later for the Senate. While they haven't ruled out returning after the Nov. 4 elections, they would rather wait until next year unless Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke, who are leading efforts to contain the crisis, call for help.
One reason, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said yesterday, is that ``no one knows what to do'' at the moment.
``When you rush to judgment, you usually make mistakes,'' said Sherwood Boehlert, a former Republican congressman from New York. ``This is something you can't go on forever without addressing, but Congress in a short span of time is best served by going home.''
lol...yeah, I want a member of the psycho/dereg party with his finanacial adviser, Phil Gramm...the world's chief psycho/dereg guy...who gave us this crisis gift wrapped...to be the ones to fix it all up for us.
Woudn't you think that, finally, instincts of simple survival would make these defective, little freaks give up their idiotology and go temporarily sane? ...you know, just until we avoided complete destruction...I mean, they can always go back to their childish, discredited twaddle afterward.
Barack Obama's lead economic advisor, Franklin Raines, is the guy who handed out $20 million bonuses to himself and other directors every year while at Fannie Mae. Obama must think he needs to be put in charge of solving the financial mess, after all if he got us in to it, he should be able to get us out of it....NOT!
And who got the 2nd largest Fannie Mae lifetime contribution in the Senate? Three year Senate man Barack Hussein Obama. Surprise, surprise. Chickens be comin' home to roost.
Handed bonuses to himself? Come now, don't get crazy. CEO compensation is voted on by the whole board, not just the CEO himself.
...and Senators don't raise their own salaries? Oh, that's right. They vote on a bill that if not overridden by date certain, automatically raises their salaries. Clever.
Oh, yeah. Raines is the guy to lead us OUT of this economic mess...
On December 21, 2004 Raines accepted what he called "early retirement" [2] from his position as CEO while U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigators continued to investigate alleged accounting irregularities. He is accused by The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO), the regulating body of Fannie Mae, of abetting widespread accounting errors, which included the shifting of losses so senior executives, such as himself, could earn large bonuses [3].
In 2006, the OFHEO announced a suit against Raines in order to recover some or all of the $50 million in payments made to Raines based on the overstated earnings [4] initially estimated to be $9 billion but have been announced as 6.3 billion.[2].
Civil charges were filed against Raines and two other former executives by the OFHEO in which the OFHEO sought $110 million in penalties and $115 million in returned bonuses from the three accused.[5] On April 18, 2008, the government announced a settlement with Raines together with J. Timothy Howard, Fannie's former chief financial officer, and Leanne G. Spencer, Fannie's former controller. The three executives agreed to pay fines totaling about $3 million, which will be paid by Fannie's insurance policies. Raines also agreed to donate the proceeds from the sale of $1.8 million of his Fannie stock and to give up stock options. The stock options however have no value. Raines also gave up an estimated $5.3 million of "other benefits" said to be related to his pension and forgone bonuses.[6]
An editorial in The Wall Street Journal called it a "paltry settlement" which allowed Raines and the other two executives to "keep the bulk of their riches." [7] In 2003 alone, Raines's compensation was over $20 million.[3]
A statement issued by Raines said of the consent order, "is consistent with my acceptance of accountability as the leader of Fannie Mae and with my strong denial of the allegations made against me by OFHEO."[4]
In a settlement with OFHEO and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Fannie paid a record $400 million civil fine. Fannie, which is the largest American financier and guarantor of home mortgages, also agreed to make changes in its corporate culture and accounting procedures and ways of managing risk
Barack Obama's economic advisor. That show's real judgement. But hey, the guy funneled almost as much money to Barack's campaign in three years, as Fannie Mae managed to pay Chris Dodd (D) over a much longer career.
...and Senators don't raise their own salaries? Oh, that's right. They vote on a bill that if not overridden by date certain, automatically raises their salaries. Clever.
what is this nonsense?!
In find it unsurprising that you guys want to focus on Franklin Raines, who merely acted according to the free-market principles Republicans have been pushing for years, yet you appear to want to give a pass to McCain top economic advisor Phil Gramm- who in the 1990's worked overtime as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee to deregulate the banking and financial services industry.
Maybe Raines took advantage of the lack of regulation that McCain and the rest of the Republican party insisted on... but the fact is that people like Phil Gramm set the rules in the first place.
But don't trust my account- just consider the words that John McCain uses to describe himself:
"“You are interviewing the greatest free trader you will ever interview, and the greatest deregulator you will ever interview”
--John McCain, As Quoted in The Wall Street Journal, March 29,2007.
Frank Raines? Nah. Tim Howard and Jim Johnson should get some credit, too. Tim was CFO at Fannie before getting booted out and then hired as Barack's Chief Economic advisor. And we all remember Jim Johnson, another former Fannie CEO who was put on Obama's VP selection committee, but who had to resign in disgrace after people learned that he had his fingers in the Countrywide Financial scandal. Besides, he was hitting on Carolyn Kennedy pretty hard, too...
Wow.. you don't say. Tim Howard was fired?! So was Carly Fiorina. You remember- the disgraced and incompetent former CEO of Hewlett-Packard... now serving John McCain as his other "chief economic adviser".
Boooo! LOL!
McCain stepping in shit again. Wait for the follow-up ad with Phil Gramm...
and
“You are interviewing the greatest free trader you will ever interview, and the greatest deregulator you will ever interview”
-John McCain, As Quoted in The Wall Street Journal, March
This ain't no accounting scandal, Einstein.
No sh*t Sherlock. Truth is in birth... or in this case, 1995.
Notice anything unusual in this chart beginning in 1995? How about when viewed on a longer scale?
Keep looking... you're almost there. You can do it!
Here you go!
Here's some highlights if you are too lazy to read...
"Economist Robert Kuttner (among others) has criticized the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act as contributing to the 2007 subprime mortgage financial crisis. Economists Robert Ekelund and Mark Thornton have made similar criticisms, arguing that while "in a world regulated by a gold standard, 100% reserve banking, and no FDIC deposit insurance" the Financial Services Modernization Act would have made "perfect sense" as a legitimate act of deregulation, under the present fiat monetary system it "amounts to corporate welfare for financial institutions and a moral hazard that will make taxpayers pay dearly".
It's your mess. Now you want to socialize the costs. Hypocrite.
The only thing this turd likes about America is that the RepubliCONs have given him a fat tax break at the expense of 99% of the country. Sara promises to continue the gravy train and he calls intelligent people who want to stop this names. Well, moron, there are no "leftist" in the US. Just right wing trash and scum (like you) who like Palin and the rest, real conservatives, moderates and progressives.
Steve said:
"...and he calls intelligent people who want to stop this names."
And then he said: Well, moron... turd...RepubliCONs...right wing trash and scum (like you)."
Gramm-Leach-Bliley (late '99) came at "middle age" of the housing bubble. Truth is in birth ('95).
Nice try at deflection though. Too bad the data doesn't back you up. Gramm may have contributed to market confusion as to the risks associated with banking institutions, but the securitization of mortgages began with the CRA modifications of '95. It was the change that "enabled" the entire subprime market to develop. By the time Gramm came along, the banks were whining that they were no longer in the game... and they weren't. Given the CRA mods of '95, Gramm of '99 makes perfect sense.
Socialize the costs?
LOL! Look at what the CRA STATED GOALS are.
Socialize the cost. You ARE one hypocritical scurvy dog!
The Community Reinvestment Act (or CRA, Pub.L. 95-128, title VIII, 91 Stat. 1147, 12 U.S.C. § 2901 et seq.) is a United States federal law that requires banks and thrifts to offer credit throughout their entire market area and prohibits them from targeting only wealthier neighborhoods with their services, a practice known as "redlining." The purpose of the CRA is to provide credit, including home ownership opportunities to underserved populations and commercial loans to small businesses.
The CRA was passed into law by the U.S. Congress in 1977 as a result of national grassroots pressure for affordable housing, and despite considerable opposition from the mainstream banking community. Only one banker, Ron Grzywinski from ShoreBank in Chicago, testified in favor of the act. [1]
The CRA mandates that each banking institution be evaluated to determine if it has met the credit needs of its entire community. That record is taken into account when the federal government considers an institution's application for deposit facilities, including mergers and acquisitions. The CRA is enforced by the financial regulators (FDIC, OCC, OTS, and FRB). In 1995, as a result of interest from President Clinton's administration, the implementing regulations for the CRA were strengthened by focusing the financial regulators' attention on institutions' performance in helping to meet community credit needs. These changes were very controversial and as a result, the regulators agreed to revisit the rule after it had been fully implemented for five years. Thus in 2002, the regulators opened up the regulation for review and potential revision.
That's all this bill does is socialize costs.
It 'originally' created the bubble blip in the housing market in '77 when Carter passed it (which Reagan defused w/interest rates), and the mods of '95 bubbled the housing market which will be much harder to weather. Do interest rates have to go up over 20% again? Maybe.

Bonehead, merge divide is talking about how these entities are all for the lassez faire, free market shit as long as they're making money. When they lose money, then they get all socialist and stick out their hands so that the government (i.e., the tax payers) can bail them out.
Sorry, but so long as interest rates were declining, the Democrats and Congree were MORE than happy to use the free market laissez-faire to subsidize subprime mortgage holder's entry into the housing market.
You can't have it BOTH ways, bonehead.
FJ always finds a way to blame the irresponsible, lazy, stupid blacks for America's problems. No matter what the problem. It's truly a talent.
Now, we've got a three trillion dollar criminal and unnecessary war to pay for AND at least another trillion dollar bailout of financial institutions on top of all their other disasters.
And liberals get to pay for these cretin's mistakes along with the fools who gave them to us...and who STILL have learned nothing from another round of laissez steal capitalism.
There really should be a special tax on any fool who voted for Bush twice...though I would give them free special ed classes for the public good.
FJ always finds a way to blame the irresponsible, lazy, stupid blacks for America's problems. No matter what the problem. It's truly a talent.
I don't blame blacks for ANY of America's problems. I blame white do-gooders and their apologists from the DNC who patronize them and manipulate the system so that they will stay on the plantation for America's problems. Like in creating the subprime market... which could only possibly work while interest rates were declining. The minute the rates started going up, the leaky ship started sinking, to which Democrats are now responding w/even leakier bailing buckets.

Ok, you're right, it's a 2-step process. You always find a way to blame America's problems on Dems trying to help the blacks. Isn't that true?
Subprime crisis? Not caused by lack of overight and deregulation, but in fact by "forcing" (don't make me laugh) the banks to lend to riskier and riskier borrowers.
No no, the fact that everone was wanting more and more of these mortgage-backed securities, that had nothing to do with it. The fact that the ratings agencies were mroe than happy to rate then triple-A -- nothign to do with it.
ALL of these actors, they were all somehow forced into these incredibly irresponsible actions by the Community Reinvestment Act, or some such nonsense.
My god, get a grip on yourselves, seriuosly. no one believes this claptrap except for other irrational conservatives.
I blame it on Dems AND all others who seek to do "good" FOR other people with money and resources NOT their own.
America used to pride itself on SELF-RELIANCE.
You (and they) have created a country filled with DEPENDENTS and INTERDEPENDENCIES.
You can't do "good" w/o knowing WHAT "the good" is. And using government to "do good" is exactly what Madison warned about in his "Memorial & Remonstrance"...
Because it is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. We hold this prudent jealousy to be the first duty of Citizens, and one of the noblest characteristics of the late Revolution. The free men of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entagled the question in precedents. They saw all the consequences in the principle, and they avoided the consequences by denying the principle. We revere this lesson too much soon to forget it. Who does not see that the same authority which can establish Christianity, in exclusion of all other Religions, may establish with the same ease any particular sect of Christians, in exclusion of all other Sects? that the same authority which can force a citizen to contribute three pence only of his property for the support of any one establishment, may force him to conform to any other establishment in all cases whatsoever?
I'm tired of paying "tribute" to your gods, dora. I prefer to spend my three pence on my OWN religious works.
The next time you pass your collection plate around the congregation, make sure your IRS goons leave their guns at home.
The Red Cross is the American way. Socialized medicine is NOT.
America used to pride itself on SELF-RELIANCE.
Really? When was this magical happy period? Was it during slavery, the reconstruction, or jim crow? Or was it before women's suffrage or after? Was it before or after workers gained protection from being fired for being sick? Before or after Jews and women were finally let into the Ivies? Before or after the first Jewish, black, female Supreme Court justice? hmmm? Before or after the Great Depression?
WASHINGTON - Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday that paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans. The Republican campaign for president calls the tax increases their Democratic opponents propose "painful" instead of patriotic.
Under the economic plan proposed by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less — the vast majority of American taxpayers — would receive a tax cut.
"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."
...and btw - we're NOT going to ask you to pay more, we're going to force you.
Welcome to America, the church of "Give me all your money and I'll decide what to do with it."
Jesus fed the masses with seven loaves and seven fishes. You jokers just march into the market, take all the fish and bread for yourselves, and then distribute three loaves and half a fish to the starving masses.

Actually, i think all our tax dollars are going to pay for this socialization of the financial system by the Bush adminsitration.
Before ALL those things Dora. Because had that emphasis NOT come first... there would STILL be slavery, their would be NO reconstruction, and jim crow would be something shivering slaves prayed FOR. There would have been NO women's suffrage. Workers would STILL be looking for protection from being fired for being sick. And Jews and women would STILL be waiting to get into the Ivies. And there would never have been a Jewish, black, female Supreme Court justice. The Great Depression would seem like a time of plenty and tremendous surplus.
But no. Women, Blacks, Jews, workers, and the disabled ALL strived to become SELF RELIANT.
As they say in Virginia, "Get your foot off my f'in' neck!"
On the other hand, SOME people are very dependent. The "not so bright". The "not so handy-capable". We'd like EVERYONE to become self-reliant. We like every child to become self-actualized and live at the pinnacle of Maslow's hierarchy.
But you don't achieve the goal by undermining competitive market systems used by self-reliant people to self-actualize.
You want these less-rself-reliant people to have homes? Then pass a bill that provides homes to the more "dependent" amongst us. But don't create competitive market loopholes so that even the "poorest" and "least creditworthy" among us can "buy and own their own home".
Because as sure as sh*t differs from shinola, some clever and fully capable person is going to find and exploit it.
Which is precisely what has happened.
The road to hell continues to be paved with good intentions. But when good intentions create disastrous results, its time someone drew a line and said, good intentions aren't good enough. Good results is what you need to achieve.
They don't call liberal's bleeding hearts for no reason. It's a shame their hubris always gets the best of them.
In this video, the CEO of Fannie Mae calls the CBC the "conscience" of Fannie Mae. It's just a shame that the conscience of Fannie Mae wasn't the entire American people... and because of that error, we ALL must suffer.
I love John.
Pretty damning piece Evan
Before ALL those things Dora.
Before slavery? You mean like, back in the Mayflower Era?
Damned damning, I'd say...again Sayet and a couple of his moron ass lickers make conservatives look like sick fools better than anyone around...which is why his freak show attracts laughing liberals.
"It's just a shame that the conscience of Fannie Mae wasn't the entire American people"
So what? Now you're advocating government oversight? I thought you were a "free market" individualist. It's amusing how easily "self-reliant" warps into "self-serving".
Gotta love this year's model "Republican". Bemoaning deregulation, embracing socialism, and discovering their "inner feminist".
Au contraire.
That would be the party that's trying to ELECT a socialist to the highest office in the land.
Here, I'll give you a thousand dollars for your vote. Need a job. Here's a broom, go sweep the streets. There, now EVERYONE has a job! Full employment! You commute 50 miles to work every day? My that's going to be quite a bike ride for you! And by the way, I'm nationalizing all the political parties. From now on there will only be one candidate to vote for.... me!
Ouch, from a 1999 LA Times article... look who's BRAGGING about the increases in poor and minority home ownership that came from rigging the CRA: Dyn-o-mite!
But with discrimination in the banking system not yet eradicated, maintaining the momentum of the 1990s will also require a continuing nudge from Washington. One key is to defend the Community Reinvestment Act, which the Senate shortsightedly voted to retrench recently. Clinton has threatened a veto if the House concurs.
The top priority may be to ask more of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The two companies are now required to devote 42% of their portfolios to loans for low- and moderate-income borrowers; HUD, which has the authority to set the targets, is poised to propose an increase this summer. Although Fannie Mae actually has exceeded its target since 1994, it is resisting any hike. It argues that a higher target would only produce more loan defaults by pressuring banks to accept unsafe borrowers. HUD says Fannie Mae is resisting more low-income loans because they are less profitable.
Barry Zigas, who heads Fannie Mae’s low-income efforts, is undoubtedly correct when he argues, “There is obviously a limit beyond which [we] can’t push [the banks] to produce.” But with the housing market still sizzling, minority unemployment down and Fannie Mae enjoying record profits (over $3.4 billion last year), it doesn’t appear that the limit has been reached.
All signs point toward a high-velocity collision this summer between two strong-willed protagonists: HUD’s Cuomo and Fannie Mae CEO Franklin D. Raines, the first African American to hold the post. Better they reach a reasonable agreement that provides more fuel for the extraordinary boom transforming millions of minority families from renters into owners.
As usual, you have nailed it.
For years I have tried to understand the causation of Libro-facism, but because their positions are not base in logic it is hard to get ones mind around it.
You have a very precise way of digesting and then explaining it.
Thank you.
