News Weak

So the Old Media has done it again. Once again they were willing to run with a story not because it was factual or supported by the evidence but simply because it was anti-American.

I'm referring, of course, to Newsweek's latest fraudulent story about Americans desecrating the Koran. Didn't happen. But the leftists would have loved for it to have happened because, like Abu Gharaib, it would have sullied America's image and justified the horrors perpetrated on America by the Islamists.

Tearing down American and justifying the horrors of other cultures is the goal of the leftist media which sees proving its philosophy of "multiculturalism" as its highest calling.

For more about this please read my post below (written prior to my knowledge of Newsweek's latest anti-American attack) and my very first post (found in the archives) entitled "The Old Media's Berlin Wall."

-----------------------------------------

I was watching Fox News' "News Watch" last week. The topic was the demise of the Old Media as reflected in the free fall in circulation/viewers of the Old Media stalwarts such as The New York Times and CNN. When it was Neal Gabler's turn -- Neal being the far leftist on the panel -- the Liberal offered what is the standard line whenever the leftists lose. Neal argued that the American people are stupid.

The lefty blamed the demise of the Old Media not on their using forged documents to try and steal elections, not on CNN's decade-long fraud in a quid pro quo with Saddam Hussein, not on the New York Times' editor-in-chief being exposed as a serial liar, but rather on the American people being shallow and "not caring about hard news..."

This is the ego and arrogance of the leftists who believe that there are only two possibilities: either one agrees with them or one is stupid.

Boy, Evan, you were sure quick to say that the desecration of the Koran didn't happen. What makes you so sure that it was a Leftist trick and not a fact? Didn't the Iraqi prisoner abuses teach you anything? Or was that a "Liberal" fabrication as well? Because of the prisoner abuses I'm inclined to believe the desecration did happen and the only politics involved here is the likelihood that the Bush Administration made Newsweek retract the story in order to save their collective asses from further damage. And don't even THINK of saying that the government would never do such a thing because they've been doing it all our lives, Democrats and Republicans.
I sure wish you Conservatives would stop giving the incompetent Liberals so much credit and start searching within your own party for the truth.

Because having been in the military anyone will tell you that there isn't a toilet purchased by the government that can even flush a book of that size. Hell you'd be lucky to flush your toilet period. Newsweek retracted the story because there was no evidence. Infact it turned out that it was the prisoners themselves that were flushing them or trying anyways.

Anonymous,
I refer you to my last comment. Considering the abuse of prisoners I'm inclined to believe it happened. Even if it didn't, there's something rotten in Guantanamo Bay:

"The U.S. military released new details yesterday about five confirmed cases of U.S. personnel mishandling the Koran at the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, acknowledging that soldiers and interrogators kicked the Muslim holy book, got copies wet, stood on a Koran during an interrogation and inadvertently sprayed urine on another copy.

Brig. Gen. Jay W. Hood, commander of Joint Task Force Guantanamo, who completed the three-week inquiry this week into alleged mishandling of the Koran, confirmed five cases of intentional or unintentional mishandling of the holy book, which appear to be unrelated, from among 19 alleged incidents since the detention facility opened in January 2002. His investigation also found 15 incidents of detainees desecrating Korans."

- The Washington Post.

In spite of the detainees actions, and the lack of commode-related indidents, something really has to be done about what's been going on there. I have no sympathy for the prisoners and their cause, especially since terrorists have no knowledge/interest in the Geneva convention. But that doesn't mean we should condone prisoner abuse of any kind. That's not what America is supposed to be about.
